from supervising the Huma email investigation.Tomorrow.
He should tell Joe Biden tonight that he'll be officially given responsibility at 8 am tomorrow and
should direct his staff to use tonight to recruit the assistance he needs .
And at 8 15 he should be sitting in Comey's chair.
Comey should be ordered to support Biden .Which he will probably do.
If not he should be temporarily barred from returning to the FBI and Obama should draft an announcement
to that effect.
Biden (and Comey?)should be told that by Sunday night there should be a factual assessment
issued stating how many possibly incorrect email there were, how many have been read to date - which should be all. How many, if any, seem possibly incorrect in the first impression of former FBI director Mueller who will be given whatever assistance he requires.
Comey should be told he'll given his job back on Tuesday if he wants it.
If not it should be given to someone competent. And loyal.
And somewhere in Heaven Harry Truman will smile.
If he doesn't it should be given to someone competent.

Nope, Nov 9th Comey finds a horsehead in his bed. Or sleeps with the fishes. Don't take a knife to a gunfight - the Chicago way.

The whimsicallities above duly noted, and embracing the reality that the political fallout at this point of a forced recusal can only be understated as "catastrophic", it may be more useful to ask why in the name of your deity of choice did he re-appoint him?
We can certainly see here the power of the position, (and no one who ever served as President over Hoover was in doubt...).
The paradigm should be JFK/RFK, and if you don't have a sibling to spare, than go to a cousin, but keep the top law enforcement jobs in the family.
Or, if not, at least your own fuckin' PARTY!!

Comey's political contributions

That would backfire by generating sympathy for Comey and inviting accusations of a cover-up. Comey should certainly be "encouraged" to resign--but not before the election.

My comment above actually meant he should receive his pink slip Nov 9. Garroting optional.

I'd prefer that Obama didn't fire him for several reasons .Just put someone in charge
of concluding the Huma email circus before Nov 8. His incentives are the opposite.
His worst outcome would be having to announce in the few remaining
days whether or not he reaffirms last July's no-indict position. Either way will create
an uproar. And BTW be bad for the Bureau's reputation.Deservably.
His (not our) best option is to slow roll the investigation and cross
that bridge a month from now.
If the trend of Hillary's decline continues to Monday 538's election eve
forecast is going to be " too close to call" . And the actual result will be worse.
Conversely if Comey announces on ,say, Saturday that he chooses not to make an
announcement until after the election that will be taken as equivalent to a decision to
indict. She'll lose.
Summarizing, from best to worse her chances rank as follows
1.An announcement prior to Nov 8 reaffirming his decision not to indict. She'll win.
2.One saying that he projects not completing the examination for many weeks. A toss up
3.One saying it's been completed but it will take him some time to reach
a new decision. See above.
A million years ago I went to Army Officer Candidate School. The mantra there was "Do something
even if it's wrong". I agree.

We are where we are. Forget it, Jake - it's Chinatown.
(Go watch Mystic River if you want to see our political version of happy endings. Can always be worse).

The FBI is pro-Trump. Military leadership and the CIA are fearful of a Trump Presidency. Comey is not in control of the FBI. The rogue agents are stirring the ship.

Every Government Agency including the Weather Bureau should be abolished every 15 years and restarted.
Maybe.
