The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

    OUR Town

Here in NEPA we have a free newsletter that is distributed in supermarkets, local shops, delis, laundromats, etc. And this guy that owns this newsletter always writes an editorial piece on the front page. Well, this week's front page has a nice Thanksgiving image on the cover, but the title of this guy's piece basically says, "WTF do we have to be thankful for??" and he proceeds to do his usual tirade about politics that takes up two pages.

Well, tonight, I was reading his usual tirade, and he grabs my eye with this statement: "...if you were born and raised here you are considered to be an insensitive, intolerant, nativist if you refer to yourself as a native American. Anywhere else in the world you are a native to the country you were born and raised in. But in America if you call yourself a native American prepare to be ostracized by the ruling class...those in power."

Now, forgive me if I am wrong, but anyone born in America after we ostracized and persecuted and killed the true Native Americans is not a true native American.

But apparently this gentleman, whose family came here from another country at some point, claims to be a native American and is he is very upset about all the immigrants pouring into his country intent upon changing his laws, beliefs, and lifestyle.

Because he's a native American, and he got here first.

Is there a "letter to the editor" section? ;-)

I wish!  There are ways to contact him, but I'm not sure, yet, that I'm ready for any ongoing conversation.

He once addressed a crowd at the high school near my home...wherein he spoke on guns and freedom and, um, other things.  He expected a huge turnout.  I hear it was a handful.

If a direct public push-back (website comment, published letter) isn't available, then it doesn't make sense to bother with him directly. Or to read his rag.
