RUSH LIMBAUGH: A New Voice of Hope in Trying Times

I have read some blogs recently that appear to put a damper on hope, hope for a new America with our New President. With our fairly new Speaker of the House. With a real majority in the Senate. I am told that there are Congressmen, although Democrat, who are bought and paid for by the evil forces of capitalism.

I am told that members of our New Administration once took huge sums of money from the moneyed class and that they are in the debt of evil forces.

I am told that after only two months, my New President has not accomplished enough. That the huge banks receive all of our money and sympathies and our working men and women get nothing.

But there is one voice, a voice in the wilderness that gives me new hope.

Media Matters has been keeping track of rush for sometime, as I have pointed out from time to time.

MM has rush saying that "the White House is perfectly timed, perfectly programmed, perfectly educated to destroy capitalism ... and they're in the process of doing it.' "

OK, I thought, is there really hope out there? I mean could this really be happening? When do we get to celebrate this great moment in the streets? I asked myself. Here I have shunned rush and attempted to ignore him. Nay, pretend he is not out there at all. I see his fat frigging face on cable, and I turn the channel. And this entire time, the man has been a herald of things to come. Great things. Wondrous things. Things to warm my pea picking heart.

So I scan MM for more hope and I find this statement:

    Attacks on Obama's policies

        * On January 22... We cannot have this large a government role in the private sector, with so many people thinking that just because they're Americans they're entitled to things...

Are people in fact, that is American people thinking that they might be entitled to "things" as rush is implying here. I mean, should our citizens believe that they are actually entitled to things without the benefit of employment contracts guaranteeing 700 million dollars over a decade or so? This gives me real hope for this country.  Can a majority really believe that they are entitled to:

Public education for their children, a system that could mirror what we have seen for decades in Europe and parts of Asia?

Access for all children to the internet?

Health insurance for all regardless of one's particular employment contract or economic class?

Access for all to food and housing for all regardless of handicaps or temporary gaps in employment?

Access for  all to decent clothing to protect against the local elements?

Access to decent legal representation for all?

    GOD I HOPE SO.

And if that is not enough, look at this statement:

           * On February 13, Limbaugh stated: "I want the stimulus package to fail, 'cause if this thing for the first time ever does what it never has done before, we're even worse trouble. If it becomes established that the federal government and the federal government alone can manage the economy and take over the private sector, then forget it, folks -- I'm looking for property in New Zealand, and I'm gonna put my money in Singapore."

We could get people like rush to leave the country. I mean for good? Is this possible? God I hope so.

    And what about this gem:

        * As Burns noted, on March 18, Limbaugh claimed that "everyone in the White House" is "perfectly timed, perfectly programmed, perfectly educated to destroy capitalism ... and they're in the process of doing it."

My dreams realized at last. But is the New Administration THIS GOOD. At least rush thinks our new Executive team is.  I sure hope he is right about this one. I mean I hope our new leaders are this good and have as their aim to do exactly what rush says they are aiming for.

        * Limbaugh also stated on March 18 that "the big point about this AIG business" is to "poison as many minds in this country as possible to capitalism and to corporate America. This is exactly the kind of thing Barack Obama and his team love: everybody hating corporate America, hating Wall Street, hating CEOs, hating executives."

AGAIN, I CAN ONLY PRAY RUSH IS CORRECT ON THIS ONE.  I mean I hate corporate America. I hate Wall Street. I hate CEOs. I hate execs. Just think what we could accomplish if everybody  thinks like I do?

        * On March 20, ...He later said that Obama "wants everyone in finance ... to be hated. He wants people in that business to be hated. He wants people in that business to be suspects," and asked, "You don't think this guy has a bug up his dress ... chip on his shoulder about wealthy people?"

I have a bug up my jammies, if not my dress just like this. Could we be this lucky to have a leader that has a bug up his jammies too. (We have a president who does not need dresses because he found an intelligent woman whom he loves and respects and she wishes to stay and live her life with him.  rush has no such luck. That is why rush needs to wear a dress from time to time after taking his daily dose of Viagra.)

        * On March 24, Limbaugh declared of the Obama administration: "They are focused on the destruction of the private sector. They -- this is an all-out assault on capitalism."

We have needed a real all-out assault on capitalism for a long, long time. HA!

        * On March 25, while referring to the "tyrannical mob" that purportedly fomented the AIG bonus outrage, Limbaugh stated to a caller whose husband works for AIG: "You've got the president of the United States lined up against your family. That's what you have to realize. The president of the United States has seen to it that busloads of protestors -- if they find out where your husband and you live -- will show up on a bus tour to protest you."

But look at this beautiful statement by Rush:

" That's what Obama's gonna do. He's gonna equalize things. He's gonna level the playing field.

Our new President wishes to equalize things and level the playing field. More truth. More justice. More of a new American Way.  Rush I could not have put it better than that.

        * On April 3, Limbaugh claimed, quoting Washington Post columnist Charles Krauthammer, that Obama "wants to warranty your life." Limbaugh continued: "Anything that goes wrong, he will deal with, the government will fix. Anything, any injustice, any economic injustice, any kind on inequality, anything that's not fair that happens to you, the government will make it right. That's what he seeks." Limbaugh later added that "Krauthammer calls him the great leveler. This is -- basically, you have to destroy capitalism. You have to wipe it out and then you have to take everything from everybody you deem has too much, and then you have to redistribute. That's what he wants to do."

What a wonderful idea. I can really think of nothing better.

But my real favorite quote says that our New President is not alone in these aims. No we have real allies out there who can help us CHANGE THE WORLD.

We agreed to increase transparency and capital protections for financial institutions. We're extending supervision to all systemically important institutions, markets, and products, including hedge funds. We'll identify jurisdictions that failed to cooperate, including tax havens, and take action to defend our financial institutions." Limbaugh claimed that "[t]his is what [French President Nicolas] Sarkozy wanted. This is what Sarkozy threatened to walk out over. This is -- this was already -- tax havens, hedge funds." He continued: "They're going to raise taxes. They're going to go out and create new tax cheats in order to get money from them. They're going to spend and spend and spend and spend. This is a global socialist big-time maneuver."

    I CAN ONLY HOPE
