    A SEASON OF HOPE

COLLEGE PARK, MD—Saying the money would help further researchers’ understanding of the awesome scientific phenomenon, representatives for the American Institute of Physics announced Tuesday that they had received a $10 million grant to melt stuff. “This funding will provide our researchers with the resources they need to put some junk over a really hot flame until it starts liquefying and gets all stretched out and stuff,” said AIP director James Griffith, adding that a portion of the grant would be allocated to making sure the flames were “real big” so that the research team could melt large items, such as desk chairs and lamps. “We already have a number of experiments lined up that will answer such questions as whether laboratory goggles or a digital thermometer melts first, and we’ve scheduled several trials to determine how fast we can melt a whole cafeteria tray. Pending our findings, my colleagues and I will then wait to see if all the melted stuff hardens up, at which point we intend to hold it over the flame and melt it again.” This research follows a $6 million study last year in which scientists were reportedly able to determine that dropping an electron microscope into a huge vat of acid is really fun.

This is from The Onion. Like I have noted before, every couple of months I am predisposed to 'checking in' to this monstrous blog,so to say?

This is a season that I look forward to and I do not wish to be a downer but The Onion makes me laugh and cry at the same time; kind of like the Hallmark Channel for the last two months.

(Christmas lasts at least two months in this day and age and when I was a kid, Christmas lasted a month although, as Dylan used to say:

I had no sense of time. hahhahah

Will's claim that Ebola could spread through the air via a cough or sneeze shows how solid science got misconstrued. The conservative commentator suggested a thought shift about how the virus could spread. In reality, Will simply misunderstood scientists' consistent, albeit technical explanation.

    http://mediamatters.org/blog/2014/12/22/misinformer-of-the-year-george-will/201946

George Will was at it all this damn year BUT on one subject he was especially inept. He knows about Ebola as most of our countrymen understand physics.

Okay, so what if 10,000 folks had died in this country as a result a new viral Satan? Well he might have been proved correct in his assessment.

And then he would have blamed liberals; the folks who wish for the death of as many folks as possible, because that is our true aim in life.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think two Americans have died as a result of this new pestilence, and I grieve for the victim's family.

Poor George is just reading crap from some conservative funded 'educational institutions' and he is an idiot.

    POOR GEORGE

TWICE AS MANY AMERICANS BELIEVE IN ANGELS AS BELIEVE IN GLOBAL WARMING

This comes from a National Science Foundation study conducted earlier this year. Before you accuse me of including a statistic that doesn’t belong on this list—as this statistic and the figure for man-made climate change are, sadly, about the same—bear in mind that, whereas evolution and the Big Bang theory are relatively new to our collective consciousness, Copernicus and Galileo cracked our solar system’s biggest secret roughly five centuries ago. It would be no less ludicrous for one in four Americans to believe that the Earth is flat.

    ANN COULTER & RAPE

Ann Coulter says she does not know anyone who has been raped. Odd, isn’t it. You’d think she’d be the warm and fuzzy female friend many a woman would turn to after a traumatizing event. Last week, the conservative radio personality appeared on the Lars Larson Show and asserted that the whole campus rape thing is an invented problem, and the Rolling Stone story proves it.

If one did a really truly investigation of all the women; this idiot has met in just the last decade, would that investigator not find at least a few women who have been shamed? All we would need is an investigator as compelled to look into the truth of things as investigators into the Cosby mess!

I was honored to come into second place on Mike W's blog with my discussion of Judge Napolitano's racism (Tied with Dr. Cleveland who forgot more than I would ever learn in two lifetimes).

We as Americans did not need a Civil War because slavery would eventually evaporate into the ...whatever.

I was going to go into more issues here, but why?

There is no climate change or people have nothing to do with it.

Evolution is a terrible theory and our children should have the chance to read all of our myths without Federal intervention.

The earth is 6000 or 10,000 years  old even though we 'see' stars and galaxies from one and two and three and thirteen billion years away from us.

My son and I viewed LIFE OF BRIAN and AMERICAN HUSTLE last night.

We split a six pack and had two drinks a piece while we ate home made hamburgers and such.

I get to see the kids on Friday or Saturday.

I wanted to bring this up.

He tells me stories about his girls.

But, he always checks with his bride on his phone/computer.

And Precious was crying because Daddy was not there when she was put to bed.

And as he received the message, he bowed his head and was teared up.

My son never got teared up in the olden days.

But last night, he was disturbed and could do nothing about it.

THAT WAS A MOMENT OF TRUTH!

I have problems with truth sometimes.

But there were no issues concerning truth when father weeps because his baby weeps due to his absence.

I get so lost at times.

Christmas is a time for truth, really!

I have witnessed truth in the relationships between my son and his daughters

I have witnessed truth in the relationships between other parents and their children.

I watch the news, and there is so little truth there.

I am just underlining that FAMILY is everything, and the rest of our information we must examine carefully.

There is hope and there is love and there are good people out there doing their best and attempting to do good.

There is another level of truth as they say.

What things are we actually sure of; as I end a thought with a preposition?

In the end there are the 99% and the oligarchy.

The Kock Bros would teach these little children stuff that would increase the 1% ownership of America.

    http://www.publicschoolshakedown.org/common-core-versus-the-koch-brother-agenda-for-education-an-untenable-choice-keep-the-billionaire-corporate-interest-out-of-our-opposition

But others can say that Harvard and Yale and....whatever...have corrupted our youth with communism.

    Let me tell you something.

My children will not allow my grandchildren to only allow ideas given from their formal schooling.

The love exhibited between my granddaughter and my son is the truth.

    AND I CANNOT PROVE THIS.

    You had to be there.

I wish to give all of Dagblog members my hope for a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

What is, is and what is not is not.

    We hope for the best.

But there is family, and the best we can do is to express our love to our families.

And to HOPE FOR THE BEST.

AGAIN, MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.

I think we can do better as a nation, but we must turn to family and friends and

    HOPE FOR THE BEST.

    I am an agnostic:

    BUT GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

And to all a goooooooood night.

    Comments

Just came back from a lovely Christmas Eve dinner with family.  Two little girls to coo over--the oldest is four years old and the youngest is 10 months old.  They are our great-great-nieces!  I love that!

Thanks for sharing your thoughts, Richard, and in your most special way.  My best to you and your family.  Spread love all over the place!

    ha

    LET US SPREAD THE LOVE!

    Alrighty then!

Kids forget all my hurt or I forget all my hurt as soon as I see my kids.

    the end

I'm writing this on a kindle, as it is the only internet connection I have at the moment.

I just want to wish you a merry Christmas and thank you for all the support and inspiration you have given me over the years   This is a lovely piece of writing; your words, as usual, move me to both laughter and tears   Enjoy every moment, my friend.

Mr. Smith, I know something about your pain and your losses and your successes!

    ha

You are a good man, and I am the better having known you.

With all my tech probs over the last year....hahahahahah

    You will survive!

    Merry Christmas Richard.

    Merry Merry Christmas Momoe!

You present a wonderful musical stream.

I forget about Andy Williams and how important he was in the olden days,  but I will see my grandchildren in a day or so and that means that they will get a hippopotamus for Christmas!

    a

    Merry Christmas, Mr. Day.

We have a poor excuse for a White Christmas this year. Not even enough snow to cover the grass. But, everyone in the fam is doing alright!

You're right. Family is everything. I don't know what I would have done without mine over the past three years.

Flower, I loved your story and some of us were worried about you and your health.

We here in the frozen tundra have all the WHITE we can stand, but it is beautiful.

And it is warmer than usual; this is fine except one really has to watch one's feet!

I am so very, very happy that you have family to ease your pain.

We miss you here, and we are happy to see you again!

Merry Christmas and I hope you find a Happy, Happy New Year.
