    TRUMP FEELS OUR CONSTITUTION ARCHAIC

Constitution of the United States, page 1.jpg

    ALLRIGHTY THEN

And many others follow this lead.

Of course this just underlines the fact that the Main Stream Media sucks?

    WHAT? ME WORRY?

FIRST, Trump is no great philosopher, let alone a political philosopher.

SECOND:Does anyone really think that this jack-ass really understands the definition of archaic?

    ADJECTIVE
marked by the characteristics of an earlier period; antiquated:

    SAM HARRIS

    Sam is monotonic. hahhahah

But I love his presentations and his interviews.

Now, if you cannot take 14 entire minutes, check him out at just under 5 minutes in this piece.

Basically Harris believes that Trump's brain is like a balloon.

Sam says that ideas come into this moron's brain like air into a balloon; and then Sam notes that if one begins blowing up a balloon and then lets go just at the last moment....

Well that balloon just shoots up into the air and no one, not even a physicist can exactly predict where the hell that balloon will end up.
    hhahaahahah

So my initial conclusion of this archaic Constitution idea is:

    99 luftballons!
    ha

Okay, so the repubs have been masking their hatred of the Judiciary (at least when it suits them) with some guise involving interpretation:

So Scalia might feel that guns are a guaranteed right under the Second Amendment.

And repubs feel there are limits on the concept of Privacy in the US Constitution visa-vie the 14th Amendment.

The repubs feel that the 'left' just made up this shit.

Of course when repubs are indicted or otherwise charged with crimes they scream:

YOU'ALL VIOLATED MY RIGHTS TO PRIVACY...
    hahahaha

My point here is that President Trump is a very, very dangerous man.

I have never heard in my 67 years any President stating that our Constitution (the longest living Constitution in the history of the world) is archaic.

Again, the only hopes I have in all of this involve:

The fact that Trump really does not know what the word 'archaic' means.

The fact that neither Congress nor the Courts will ever go along with his appraisal of this sacred document.

NOW TRUMP WANTS TO DO AWAY WITH FREEDOM OF THE PRESS:

    NEW YORK TIMES V. SULLIVAN

So here is Reince Preibus defending his emperor:
    WE ARE LOOKING INTO THIS!

So this is what I have to say in response to Trump and Priebus:

    THE END
(for now, I might come back)

Trump now says Civil War was preventable!

    http://www.nydailynews.com/news/politics/trump-thinks-andrew-jackson-prevented-civil-war-article-1.3122527

Andrew Napolitano said the same thing a few years ago.

    http://www.politifact.com/punditfact/article/2014/mar/19/napolitano-stewart-debate-civil-war/

And recall that Andrew Jackson in the late 1830's sent troups to the borders of SC when SC threatened to secede.

Yeah, Jackson the slave owner. hahsahahhaha

TRUMP IS A BASKET CASE WITH ABSOLUTELY NO CONCEPT OF HISTORY!

They are arguing this same point on MSNBC right now without citing Napolitano.

Remember that Napolitano was suspended from FOX for a week or so after he had made this argument against the Civil War thereby defaming Lincoln.

There is something happening in this WH and we know not what it is.

I would bet that Bannon had something to do with these statements by POTUS.

    Jeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezus.

Yeah Politico aint too happy about this Civil War memorial by POTUS either? hahhahahaha

I am not a tweetest so to speak. hahahahah

    BUT DAMN!

    HAHAHAHAHAHAH

    Thank you, Mr. Day.

When there's so many responses, it's hard to catch the good ones. The hashtag #AndrewJackson was a little less busy.

I just happened to catch the Bette Midler tweet when I checked the feed. I think she's actually wrong on what he said, but ya know, she's doing "Hello Dolly!" on Broadway right now so it's funny she's paying attention to his tweets on her only day off.

Meanwhile, he's distracting with all of this from his YUGE failure in Congress today. See my thread @ "In the News" starting with "Democrats Confident They Can Block Trump Agenda..."

Bette Midler is my hero. hahhahaha

    Damn, thank you for this.

I would never have had the opportunity to even read this stuff.

    THANK YOU!

Oh and I shall look for your thread!

Oh you don't have a Twitter account to see all the tweets? You can look at all of Twitter on your computer, you don't need to use a phone. You use it like any other website, very much like this one. You might follow someone here, same there. But you don't have to follow anybody, just go to the homepage and they have links to the trending tweets and the most popular hashtags. All you have to do is sign up for an account, like you once had to do here.

You don't have to, but If you chose to follow some Tweeters, you can also chose to have email notices when they tweet something, or not, in the case of the latter, you can see what they have tweeted since you last visited on your dashboard.

Ahh, but did you know that the Salutatorian address from second-in-class graduate Frederick Douglass will be introduced by Trump himself, as evidence of his high regard for "Fred" (it is unclear whether or not Trump is aware that the "Fred" in question is not, in fact, his beloved father).

‘He just seemed to go crazy’: Senior GOP aides stunned by Trump’s bizarre behavior in last 24 hours

By David Edwards @ Buzzfeed, May 2

Senior Republican aides confided this week that President Donald Trump’s puzzling statements over the last few days have left them confused.

According to Politico, GOP aides on Capitol Hill and at the White House have been unable to explain why Trump unleashed a string of baffling claims over a 24-hour period in interviews with Bloomberg, CBS News and SiriusXM radio [.....]

I think I know why: HE'S LOSING AT EVERYTHING HE WANTED, BIG FAIL, MAJOR FAIL AT THIS PRESIDENCY THING. Not only that: IT'S SINKING IN THAT HE'S NOT POPULAR! How do I know the latter? While he's saying crazy things, he's speaking relatively softly, not yelling, and ruminating about "stuff" like: why did the Civil War happen? He's lost his confidence.

    "I don't stand by anything" - Trump's first glimpse of self-awareness

I love it. I read that whole comment in my inner imaginary DickDay voice. Seemed in character until I saw AA's name at the bottom.

That is meant as a compliment for both of you ;0)

thanks obey, I like reading your comments, too. Back to the President, today it seems  he is requesting time to thimk, we need to re-thimk this whole thing

Trump Says the Government Needs a ‘Good Shutdown’

By JULIE HIRSCHFELD DAVIS @ NYTimes, 50 minutes ago

President Trump said that there needed to be a confrontation over federal spending and seemed to call for scrapping the Senate’s filibuster rule.

The bestest art of the deal stuff happens when it looks all is lost. This China and trade thing, not what it seemed at first. What is it I used to say long ago about government debt again? And I got to have time to figure out how this Congress thing really works.

From the article, the put up a false front thing to buy time; I especially got a kick out of the parts I underlined

[...] The Twitter posts ran counter to a frenetic effort by the White House to portray the spending agreement as a major victory for the president, an argument Mr. Trump himself made just hours later in the Rose Garden when he declared, “This is what winning looks like.”  He cited large spending increases for the military and border security contained in the measure, claiming that those resources were “enough money to make a down payment on the border wall,” despite the fact that the bill provides no funding for the structure.

It was a continuation of a public push by his advisers to counteract the notion that Mr. Trump had been forced into an agreement he dislikes. Mick Mulvaney, the White House budget director, hastily arranged a conference call after Mr. Trump’s morning Twitter posts to claim victory on the spending package and argue that the president had actually outfoxed Democrats who were eager for a shutdown.

“They wanted to try and make this president look like he could not govern,” Mr. Mulvaney told reporters in a chaotic call that featured a shouting budget director, dueling hold music and reporters frantically trying to figure out how to ask questions (mostly without success). “They wanted to make this president look like he did not know what he was doing, and he beat them on that at the very, very highest level.”

Democrats, Mr. Mulvaney added, “were desperate to show that we were not reasonable, and we completely destroyed that narrative by negotiating this deal. This is a huge victory for the president.”

But by publicly courting a government shutdown, an extraordinary move for a sitting president, Mr. Trump instead seemed to be confirming his reputation for rash statements that may yield little in the way of follow-through [....]

Great nuggets in there. I'm laughing but also very scared. What I'd really like to read now is a book about the dumbest, laziest, weakest, most corrupt, least self-aware president in the history of the US other than Trump. Just to have hope that this does not end catastrophically. Can someone give Michael an advance to write that book? Please and Thank You

hey, cho; i'd sure love to hear how you are, what you're doing, and where in the world of Carmen Sandiego you are these days...if ya can spare a few minutes.

    best,

Hello Ma'am! I'm back in Geneva after a bit of moving around, and back in academia as of this week, coordinating EU research projects. Before that spent the last six years in the private sector setting up a handful of small companies. Then I realized I liked having free time.

    Hope you are well xxx

Code for "having beer & nosh at Davos where hobnobbing with his trilateralist buddies for world domination". Free time indeed when the workers of the world are working for *you*.

Ha! Never understood why they go to Davos, it's a dump whose one advantage seems to be that even protesters can't be bothered to go there. I did once sit at the next table over from Kofi Annan in our local Pouly (the Swiss answer to Dunkin Donuts). Close enough

ah, as they say around here, i'm "good enough for who it's for".  i, on the other hand, have too much free time.  ;-)  remember now: peracles-if-you-pleeeze said it, i didn't, lol.  i do hear from Q from time to time, although not just recently.  no mention of your love life though?  guess that stuff's not for the boards, eh wot?

hugs and a smooch to you.  and a musical gift for you, if i may?  nope, dunno how to do it here.  gotta go with the url, sorry.

Ah Joan! Love it. This is a family blog so thought it better to leave out the love life. No second divorce yet so I got that going for me! Congrats on the new addition to the family!! xx

Family  blog? so here's some family music. Think I'm in the wong place...

lol; i hadn't known you were ever married, much less divorced once..."Congrats on the new addition to the family!! xx"...do you know or suspect something i dunno?  ay yi yi.

@ no, we-are-peraclese-if-you-don't pleeze: it's more likely that cho called it a family blog due to amount of msm pablum slurped here.  ("mathew, mark, luke and...DUCK!)  ;-)

@ Richard Day:  ah, i'm wickled titless that you're tuned it to PFC!  that's one of my faves, another is 'jah guide', but this has to my favorite:  titi!  yahamba!  best thing before bedtime, i reckon, even though ya can't sit still!  if i did it wrong again, here's the url:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M5HfGrTUvz4

Q, I just cannot let this go.

St. Duck wrote a book that was banned by some Roman Emperor in the 4th(Century AD) and yet his message primarily dealt with the Virgin Death.

I mean, we already know that JC was born of a virgin but we are supposed to believe that he never used his junk.

Junks are sacred after all, at least according to St. Duck.

So I find your notation blasphemous.

    (Is that a word?)

anyway, Roman Catholics cannot get divorced.

    IT IS THE LAW

Actually my real name is Bartholomew Stark.

first reply didn't take; bad mojo, i reckon.  ah, as they say around here, i'm "good enough for who it's for".  ;-)  i have too much ree time now as it turns out.

but remember now: it was peracles-if-you-pleeeze who said that; i couldn't Possibly Comment, lol.  i hear from Q from time to time, although not recently.  but yes; a belated international workers' day;; i just read that Herr Hair tried to turn it into Loyalty Day.  do i hear pastor wright calling?  "goddam, amerika!"  anyhoo, i tried three ways to embed this muscial gift to you, but finally just laid down the url.  hope it works this time.

The automatic spam filter tends to be suspicious of links, so it sometimes quarantines comments. If you register and sign-in, you'll bypass the spam filter.

I also usually notice embargoed content and dups and such, but by the time I saw these they'd alread been cleared.

i yam spam?  i get that a lot, i freely admit.  should i add: 'i resemble that designation'?  but srsly, thanks for the head-up, but given that i don't find much in common here w/ my politics, i'd be hard pressed to offer opinions, then fail to support them now that i'm a bit like richard day: increasingly showing sign of early dementia now that i seem to have more lacunae, few brain cells/memory engrams than is helpful for anywhere near full expression.  ;-)

    my politics are both anti-Imperialism, anti-capitalism, having been radicalized by St. Obama's rule.  since this is a thread on richard day's 'trump feels our constitution is archaic', i'll bring an essay ive been discussing w/ a few friends: ‘Omnia Sunt Communia: May Day 2017’, by Peter Linebaugh, in which he digs deep and proves, imo, that the 'framers' didn't want the Rabble anywhere near any levers of power;

“The constitution of the U.S.A. began when an assembly of rich white bankers, lawyers, and slave owners gathered behind closed doors in Philadelphia in 1787.  They organized a government which in the first instance monopolized money-making and war-making and in the second instance did so with a series of legal mechanisms to minimize democracy – the Electoral College, the 3/5s clause, the Senate, the Supreme Court – so familiar to us.  They were led by “the father of the constitution,” a man owning more than a hundred slaves, James Madison.  He makes clear the fear that underlay this constitution; it was omnia sunt communia.”  (“all things are held in common”)  loads more, of course, at Counter Punch.

sweet dreams if you are able to have them.  the world's a wild an whacky place right now, and the western Imperium is at the center of the storm, imo,  'so it goes...' as kurt vonnegut so often said.

OKAY, you have got to be Q

    If you are not Q

Well that is okay. I mean we all must aspire to something

    hahahahaha

Maybe it is the western imperium.

    That is all right.

I get more hits and my son is happy.

    hhahahahaha

all I got is: I need some shelter from this western imperium:

My PC is not up to fluff (is that an expression?)

    Anyway Goldberry, just sign in.

I mean they let me in years ago.

And without an entrance fee or a proper CV.

    hahahahhaah

I think, although I cannot prove it, that Mike W prevented a serial killer from logging on...

But the guy was a repub and did not have a proper dl.

Besides you know some folks here.

And it appears that you can read and write and so far, you have never quoted serial killers

No, Dick - you fluff pillows and ahem, certain members in porn films. I'd hate to do that to a PC.

But Snuffy Smith says you can too be up to snuff and stuff - if you're not sloughing off. Hope that's enough.

Peracles, this all sounds like a bunch of fluff to me.

But this Goldberry guy seems pretty smart.

Smarter than me anyway but obviously not as smart as you'all.

    hahahaha

    AH FLUFF IT!

George Will @ WaPo: Trump has a dangerous disability

It is urgent for Americans to think and speak clearly about President Trump’s inability to do either. This seems to be not a mere disinclination but a disability. It is not merely the result of intellectual sloth but of an untrained mind bereft of information and married to stratospheric self-confidence.

In February, acknowledging Black History Month, Trump said that “Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who’s done an amazing job and is getting recognized more and more, I notice.” Because Trump is syntactically challenged, it was possible and tempting to see this not as a historical howler about a man who died 122 years ago, but as just another of Trump’s verbal fender benders, this one involving verb tenses.

Now, however, he has instructed us that Andrew Jackson was angry about the Civil War that began 16 years after Jackson’s death. Having, let us fancifully imagine, considered and found unconvincing William Seward’s 1858 judgment that the approaching Civil War was “an irrepressible conflict,” Trump says:

“People don’t realize, you know, the Civil War, if you think about it, why? People don’t ask that question, but why was there the Civil War? Why could that one not have been worked out?”

Library shelves groan beneath the weight of books asking questions about that war’s origins, so who, one wonders, are these “people” who don’t ask the questions that Trump evidently thinks have occurred to him uniquely? Presumably they are not the astute “lot of,” or at least “some,” people Trump referred to when speaking about his February address to a joint session of Congress: “A lot of people have said that, some people said it was the single best speech ever made in that chamber.” Which demotes Winston Churchill, among many others.

What is most alarming (and mortifying to the University of Pennsylvania, from which he graduated) is not that Trump has entered his eighth decade unscathed by even elementary knowledge about the nation’s history. As this column has said before, the problem isn’t that he does not know this or that, or that he does not know that he does not know this or that. Rather, the dangerous thing is that he does not know what it is to know something [....]

"Doesn't know what it is to know something"

Well, that is the last word on that subject. Change the tenses and you got yourself an epitaph. I will no longer bother trying to describe the state of the POTUS. Maybe I should just go back to composing haikus and swinging my sabre in the backyard.

Oh Moat it is a new day!

So I hereby render unto Moat the Dayly Comment of the Day Award for this here Dagblog Site, given to all of you from all of me. hahahah

Now, where the fuck did I put my light saber?

    Thank you.
I stay away from the kind of swords that need batteries.

Charles Blow has a nice roundup today of ruminations by him and his colleagues on Trump compared with Roman history:

    Senators Save the Empire

The title meme is part of the reason why I wasn't disturbed by the Trump kabuki of bringing the whole Senate on a bus to the White House for a briefing on North Korea, but rather was reassured that it was happening. Precisely because: Senators, even, or especially, Republican ones, got big egos too,  They don't turn into putty by being acknowledged by the White House like lowly House Congresspersons often do.
