The Bishop and the Butterfly: Murder, Politics, and the End of the Jazz Age

    Trump Hates Harvey

Hurricane Harvey may be "the worst disaster in Texas history". Recovery may last for years due to the trillions of gallons of water that need to drain or be pumped out of Houston, the 4th largest city in America.

Good thing Trump's FEMA Director is one of the few highly qualified appointments he has made, William Long, has nearly 20 years of disaster management. Homes and businesses are damaged or destroyed, lives lost, hospitals flooded, nursing homes needing evacuation, transportation impossible.

Houston is also petrochemical capital of the nation:

    CBS

The Houston international shipping channel is the lifeblood of the nation's petrochemical industry. And with Hurricane Harvey on course to hit a cluster of refineries that outputs five million barrels of oil a day, gas prices have already surged...

Trump hates Harvey, because Harvey is bigger than Trump.

    Bigger than his tweets.

Harvey will take Trump and his daily petty grievances about the press, the Republicans or the Democrats off the front page. It may even take perceived slights on him off his mind for a while. He will no longer be whining about being the self proclaimed "world's greatest victim in history". Because real victims will be in the news.

Harvey means people, who may or may not be friends, family, Republicans or Democrats are suffering, and Americans take care of our own, at least in national disasters.

Trump only takes care of his own.

The ones that show up at his rallies.

Although General Kelly is trying to change that, force Trump to realize what his job is, by making Trump go to the Presidential command center at Camp David this weekend instead of Mar-a-Lago.

Harvey unites the nation.  Trump divides it.

The disaster in Texas, and the effects it will have will be national.

This is not the time for petty partisan politics.

Harvey shows that it isn't political blowhards passing bathroom laws, that do the hard and dangerous work of keeping this country going. It's the first responders, most of whom work for the government, local, state and federal, or the miliary and National Guard, along with private electrical and other infrastructure techs.....from all over the nation are in Texas or on the way.

There will be no more talk by Trump of shutting the government down to build his Wall. When the 4th largest American city is under many feet of water, shutting down to fund building a wall in the desert is clearly insane.

I would predict the government will be funded, and the debt limit raised, because without a government, how would the people of Houston, and the nation, persevere on what will be a long road to recovery?

So, yes, Trump hates Harvey. It makes him do his job, the job all Presidents are elected to do. Focus on us.

And foremost stay out of the way when there is serious on the scene work to be done to save a city, its people, and its economic importance to the nation.

    Comments

Trump, recognizing in his maniacally self centered delusional mind that his recent Phoenix Adoration Rally "government shutdown to fund The Wall ploy" is dead, is now, Sunday........TODAY...... AGAIN........as millions suffer what may be days or weeks of flooding catastrophes in Houston......YES......... tweeting Mexico must pay for the wall "through reimbursement/other".

Back in the real world, water is still rising in Houston, and there are reports of "Katrina like chaos", National Weather Service:

This event is unprecedented & all impacts are unknown & beyond anything experienced,” the federal service said on Twitter Sunday. “Follow orders from officials to ensure safety.”

Houston is drowning but the fat howler monkey in the White House is tweeting about Mexico paying for his ****ing wall.

    wapo comment.

Yeah, and now he is howling about how wonderful he is and how is saving lives in Houston and...

Anyway, I hereby render unto NCD the Dayly Moniker of the Day Award for this here Dagblog Site given to all of NCD from all of me for this gem:

THE FAT HOWLER MONKEY IN THE WHITE HOUSE.

Mexico responds to Trump tweets: Will not pay for wall. Will not negotiate anything on social media. Ready to help Texas w/ #Harvey relief. https://t.co/0Dq5OHldYk

Saw that. Trump wouldn't take any foreign help unless he needed them for his hotel.

Trump knows his mob wants the Wall, even a  deteriorating natural disaster can't get his mind off it.

    NCD ... Yup and thanks...

Trump hates Harvey, because Harvey is bigger than Trump.

That's what he is ALL about

Hahahaha,  and being held captive by Kelly at Camp David for "more than 30 minutes" ALL WEEKEND IN FACT is not going to improve the mood of the biggest narcissist crybaby in modern history.

    Frank Bruni:

I keep hoping against hope that a new challenge will tease out a new Trump and that if he malingers in the presidency long enough, he’ll meander in the direction of eloquence, slouch toward poetry and tumble into inspiration. Stranger things have happened. I’ll have to get back to you on what they were.

But Trump’s hurricane talk and hurricane tweets were like his fair-weather fare: childishly intent on superlatives, puerilely obsessed with size, laden with boasts and lavish with off-key asides.......

Having chosen in the past to ignore all the experts who chart changing climate patterns, Trump on Sunday tweeted: “Experts are calling #Harvey a once in 500 year flood!” They have no authority when they tell him inconvenient truths, but they’re entirely credible when they describe circumstances that flatter his bloated sense of self.

“Historic.” “Biggest ever.” “Epic.” That was Trump on Harvey.

“Historic.” “Massive.” “The likes of which the world has never seen.” That was Trump on his election victory....

Never clearer: a perfect textbook case.

Edit to add: Comes to mind, they should just change the name of the disorder! Forget Narcissus, not an ideal example and hard to spell! Trump Personality Disorder: far better for future diagnostic purposes.

    bwwwaaaah, mommy!

After reading the false reporting and even ferocious anger in some dying magazines, it makes me wonder, WHY? All I want to do is #MAGA!
