    Convulsed as we find ourselves by astonishment at the vapidity of Trump's foreign policy pronunciamento, we must not permit the snickering to crowd out recognition of how truly wooden was his delivery.

     

    He reads ( as he talks...) At fourth grade level. (Skip the intro. Jump anywhere past 6:30.  Where you come in is irrelevant.)

     

     

     

     

    Thus, the principal communication of the entire exercise is precisely its meta communication.  Message! "Trump can read!"

     

    Just as with the proud nine-year-old performing for Nana, it is the doing it at all( and not the degree of doing well) that grabs our attention.
