Plenty has been cut already, like Women, Infants and Children.  The new fight is to funnel money through state block grants and tie receipt to work or job training.  We know how that Welfare Reform worked out for children.

Could he not just come down warning of hell and brimstone if they don't do it?  There are some rumors of 'capping the ceiling' (Mary Landrieux, maybe?).  Harry Reid chose the most conservative Dem Senator, Max Baucus and Daniel  Inouye to negotiate, but John Boehner doesn't like the setup much.

They raised if from a five to a seven on the INES scale, which seems to be the highest end of the scale.  They have plugged the hole that was flushing radioactivity into the sea.  No mention of the rods melting through the containment vessel. 

Don't know how she got her degree, but in a spate of illogical crapola, Jasmina Vujic, professor of nuclear engineering at University of California, Berkeley:

 "said that there were major differences between the Chernobyl and Fukoshima disasters.

Rebels want promises that Gadaffi will withdraw troops from streets and towns and resign; Gadaffi earlier met with them and refuses to say he will step down, though he accepted their 'roadmap to peace'.

"The people must be allowed to go into the streets to express their opinion and the soldiers must return to their barracks," Shamsiddin Abdulmolah, a spokesman for the rebels' Transitional National Council, told the AFP news agency.
