If you read the original Herodotus (father of history 450BC, and remarkable tell it like it is skeptic) the Trojan War was not an heroic tale but a scam by "unconstrained monarchs" to loot Troy. Helen was knocked up by ship captain 'Alexandrus' and absconded voluntarily with him to Egypt.
Herodotus says the Homerian fable provided cover later for an operation whose sole purpose was to pillage Troy.
Sort of like Trumps bold fables used to allow him to pillage the Treasury.
