Bawdy ESL Mishap

Hello there on this Friday. I hope this picture set's your head right like it was Red Stripe after a long night.

There are plenty of examples on the interweb of the butchering of the English language, but this one is one of the funniest I've seen.  We all know what this advertisement was trying to say, but we also know what it does say, awesome.  So next time you have heartburn buy Gavison and have a fireman come in your mouth.

When I lived in Korea, we ESL folk would entertain ourselves for hours with stuff like this. Another favorite was mocking our students' awkward use of idioms. What can I say? I used to be kind of a bitch (Shut up, Quinn).

I always wondered though, why they couldn't get an actual native speaker to help them translate. It can't cost that much.

I barely speak spanish (curse words, most verbs in the present tense, and a few key nouns) and I can only imagine how the locals in Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco for the spanish speakers) talk about me after I've asked them directions or tried to rent a quad from them.

Gotta love the caption in screen grab No. 2: Always read the label! Horrifying thought: Maybe they are giving fair warning that's what it does taste like!

Ok. Somebody write the tag for new Gaviscon suppositories....
