Muslim-on-Christian attacks over the last years, plus a precarious north-south & other regional balances on top of 7 years of incompetent leadership make the Nigerian elections very contentious.
Note at 217 million, Nigeria has been adding at least 2.5% per year since 1974, which means 5m/year each year since 2017, 4-4.5m since 2008, a scary sustained growth with ethnic strife that undoubtedly puts current teens/college age at great disadvantage.
The median age is a scary 18, and in 12-15 years population has gone from slight Christian majority to perhaps a 58-42 Muslim-Christian split (extrapolating 2018 numbers, with the Muslims stronger in North & Central, which is part of the concerns in not choosing the traditional alternating regional & religious patterns. Though this writer thinks Muslim-Christian co-existence & good vibes can be maintained in the Yoruba Southwest.
Strange, no one in the article includes reducing population explosion, and crime doesn't appear in the charts. (Murders in South Africa are around 26,000 now, compared with 20k for the US in this last horrid year with 6 1/2 times the population. Yes, for South African girls/women rape, assault, and attempted murder are also climbing)
The world needs to wake up and invest in Africa, so that young Africans do not feel they have to move abroad to achieve their dreams at the expense of their home countries, according to the man behind the survey, Ivor Ichikowitz.
Sure, Ivor - invest into an unsustainable mess of crime and population growth. Investors aren't stupid. Show something promising.

In the pandemic, food shortages and malnutrition skyrocketed. Add climate disasters and war, and you have a situation where total global deaths have gone up more than 20%. Hear more about my take on the challenges facing the world with @npratc. https://t.co/V0XRu8hBoh

Also a reminder that Putin's culture war against "the west" has been a big loser.
