I wrote about Black Hammer. It's essential that all of us, including people in leftist movements, learn the warning signs for abuse and how to support people drawn in by groups like this. https://t.co/UD2zYI852O
I've said it before and I'll say it again. This isn't a story to laugh at. It's a story of life-destroying abuse. The people who were preyed upon by Kodzo and BH are victims in this.
Lack of resources (community, purpose, material, housing) are the biggest risk factors for abuse like this. We can only address this problem by addressing those needs. Stopping this abuse requires we build a better world.
Sigh, Orion, *analyze* pls! You're on a news junkie site. What is the "whole" of Africa, what is the "influence", where does it come from, is it changing? Africa is largely powerless and non-evolving, reliant on foreign aid. Only 1 country voted against the Ukraine condemnation - many abstained. A disaster or to be expected? With Russia having trouble gaining a few km in Donbas over 5 months, how are it's future fortunes in building alliances and monopolizing minerals in Africa? Who will risk pissing off the US (or China) based on a sick imperialist with a 30-year-dead approach to the continent? Enlisting Somalis to fight in Ukraine doesn't help. Sub-Saharan population is rocketing - Russian population is collapsing. What will happen to Russia's birthrate, production, economic indicators under sanctions? What's happened to Russia's armaments & weapons systems production and the prior Russian reputation of having top tier military and strategy? It's a joke. Ukraine's on Russia's border - how will Russia support small undeveloped nations a continent to the south? What comes next?
Which side adapts to the future? Will liberation nostalgia continue to drive the narrative? When Putin's dead, will Russia continue to stoke the old flames or will it undergo a sea change?
There's not a lot of news from that continent. They keep a low profile. Most countries, from Burkina Faso to Congo to South Africa have extensive contracts with Russia. In Congo, Russian pilots are some of the only pilots who will fly in or out. Many North African countries enjoy visa free travel to Russia.
I don't think it has much to do with Putin or communism. The relationship is probably ancient, going back to the Silk Road and Mongol Khans.
Note 2nd half of the AJC article about the UHURU MOVEMENT, a socialist group BASED IN TAMPA with embedded links to Tampa Bay Times stories:
[....] Another group implicated in the alleged conspiracy is Uhuru Movement, a socialist group based in Tampa, Fla. According to the Tampa Bay Times, federal agents raided several locations there Friday including the movement’s headquarters. Prior to the founding of the Black Hammer Party, Kodzo was secretary general of the Florida-based group until 2018 when he either left or was expelled.
According to the federal authorities, in 2015 Ionov paid for members of the Florida group to travel to Moscow, “and for at least the next seven years, Ionov exercised direction and control overseniormembersof” the group. The indictment claims that emails sent by senior leaders in the Uhuru Movement acknowledged that Ionov’s organization, AGMR, was “an instrument of (the) Russian government” and that it was “more than likely” that the Kremlin was using AGMR “to utilize forces inside of the U.S. to sew (sic) division inside the United States.” A senior member of Uhuru allegedly wrote that the connection between Ionov and the Russian government did not “disturb us.”
In addition, the indictment claims Ionov used these connections to interfere in local elections in Florida by supporting and consulting in two Uhuru members’ campaigns for local office in 2017 and 2019. Ionov’s involvement in the campaigns allegedly impressed members of the FSB, and one agent of the security force wrote to Ionov that “our election campaign is kind of unique ... are we the first in history?”
Uhuru leaders held a press conference Friday in Florida defending their actions.
“We can have relationships with whoever we want to make this revolution possible,” Eritha “Akile” Cainion said, according to the Tampa Bay Times. “We are in support of Russia.”
According to WTSP-TV, Cainion claimed the indictment was part of a “propaganda war being waged against Russia.”
“The U.S. has a hold on what is being propagated about the war on — the defensive war — Russia’s defensive war against Ukraine, against world colonial powers because that’s what’s happening right now,” she said.
The Black Hammer Party has made similar defenses of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. [....]
In new press conference Cainion says current headquarters of Uhuru and African People's Party is currently located in ST. LOUIS, MO and the Feds raided there:
She identifies herself as "Director of Agitation and Propaganda for the African People's Party." Among other things what she says is extremely anti-U.S. as a capitalist imperialist colonizer and undemocratic, calling for revolution against the US (much more strongly than Trump supporters) and very pro-Russia (as if they are still communist Soviets) Also anti-Zuckerberg by name. Very "tankie", very anti U.S., very militant.
Jul 29, 2022 Eritha ‘Akile’ Cainion, who ran for mayor and is now the leader of the St. Pete Uhuru group, led the press conference. Cainion defended Russia, saying the U.S. and other "world Colonial powers have been collaborating against Russia for well into the early 1900s." "The history of the African People's Socialist Party is to unite with any forces that unite with the anti-colonial struggle. and we feel that is a just struggle. What this is a propaganda campaign against Russia. We can have relationships with whoever we want," Cainion said. She did not confirm or deny any of the charges within the indictment.
^ note she very much stresses they are an international organization engaged with "anti-colonial struggle" against the U.S. government and affiliated "world colonial powers" on behalf of "African peoples".she avoids any use of the word "American". she says they currently support Russia because it is fighting against the same world colonial powers. she is very clear that the U.S. government is the enemy and that Russia is basically just another victim
In St. Louis and Florida, members of the African People's Socialist Party had their homes raided by combat-clad FBI agents using flash grenades and drones. FBI told them they're under suspicion of conspiring with Russia. https://t.co/SssvnI5Bvl
my guess is that Ionov got an expanded war chest once the Ukraine invasion started which would allow for the Anti-Globalization Movement to fund more operations (including Black Hammer). Also the DOJ statement traces APSP's collusion back to 2015 but BHO only from late 2021
We're gonna hear a lot of crying now about the DEEP STATE from extremists left and right and many in the GOP
If the FBI and the DOJ can raid Mar-a-Lago, the home of a former president, just imagine how easy it is for them to get TO YOU! The FBI attacked the Black Hammer Party, find out how it went down here: https://t.co/dUbTgnAvyD#Trump#MarALagoRaid
It's affiliated now with the Democratic party, too, as after J. Edgar Hoover, federal law enforcement slowly became NOT the favorite thing of the GOP.
The ACAB/abolish people don't realize how much they are in synch with libertarian GOP and the current Supremes in believing that what "law and order" is should be decided by small local "communities"
Just breaking Covid lockdown to protest police with masses in the streets was a libertarian "up yours, gummint" in itself, much less rioting.
I saw the equivalence with Trumpism then and I still see it everyday. No respect for current rule of law and no respect for its enforcers and everyone gets a mulligan. (And of course Putin is going to take advantage, why wouldn't he?)

clear your mobile phones was the earlier callout to the GOP gang. People like Bannon and Navarro and CoS Meadows who can't do Congressional hearings but now it's "Dems, we expect you to show up".
They think "rule of law" represents a racist system and want to tear it down. They are basically anarchists. Dictators step in where anarchy gets a foothold:
the opposite is true. No police authority in Nazi Germany would have dared to search Hitler's house. The same goes for Stalin or fidel Castro. The search of Trump's house shows that American democracy works. Even an ex-president is equal before the law. https://t.co/NCZ2WdMsIs
What Putin tries to do with all his bots is promote anarchy, that's why many of them aped BLM and Woke memes.
Edit to add: rule of law in a democracy is doubly important for minorities of any kind!!! The judicial branch is what protects against "tyranny of the majority".
VIDEO: Dozens of supporters of former US president Donald Trump gather outside his Mar-A-Lago home in Florida after he said the residence was being "raided" by FBI agents pic.twitter.com/iv6Lnv0DyV
They do not wish to be subject to the FBI force enabled by the US electorate and paid for by the US taxpayers to enforce the rule of law agreed to by the US electorate. Guns are the symbol of libertarian power ensuring you do not have to follow rule of law.
