Per "Daughter of Persia" Khomeini's gang crushed people's vocal cords so you couldn't hear them scream as they were walked over the building rooftop's edge, hundreds at a time. That was around 1980 - don't know what happened in 1988. But all the promise for the Revolution got off to a pretty piss-poor start.
