Biden’s approval rating has been in general decline, but there seems to be a continued loss of *relative* standing with Hispanic voters rather than the bounceback that optimists had hoped for. https://t.co/Fm4khHZQtdpic.twitter.com/WfFIIzyYPQ
Unfortunately, key elected officials like Catherine Cortez-Masto and Ben-Ray Luján who are endangered by these trends are not really advocating for themselves, allowing progressives to maintain some convenient illusions about what’s happening beneath the surface in politics.

includes such things as comparing with the standard for first-term presidents and possible effects on midterm elections. Hint: it's not just Afghanistan.
as if they're children who can't judge their own welfare (Reminds me how this one of my least favorite attitudes on Democratic blog sites, including this one in the past. I've seen some rants so bad about how voters are so stupid, that you'd think they're ready to support poll testing. Obnoxious + counter-productive + arrogant elitism; no small d democrat; is like saying you're glad you're liberal because it's a small elite educated club. Either you believe everyone is qualified to vote or you don't. If you don't like the results maybe you're part of the problem.)
“They’re voting against their own interests,” as if they’re children who can’t judge their own welfare. Pre-COVID, Hispanic unemployment was the lowest it’s ever been, and income higher than ever. People know where their interests lie.https://t.co/wvjkb2LocL
Misinformation, toxic masculinity, Facebook, traditional beliefs…any bogeyman rather than confront the fact much of the Dem program is supremely unattractive to many minorities (and not just Hispanics).https://t.co/P3tmdfxByK
I've been influenced by poor people with no investments who voted the way the Dow Jones blew, back in the 70s/80s at least. Yes, people often vote against their own interests. Hillary offered West Virginia something like $30 billion to transition into the post-coal green energy age, and instead they voted a fraud who promised them supports and a revival of past pseudo-glory of late 1800s coal fields that would obviously never appear. Florida re-elects hucksters who mismanaged the Covid pandemic helping thousands to die unnecessarily. I agree that the Dem program might be "unattractive", but part of it is that many people have shitty taste, so you have to offer them shit in different wrappings, part of it is that the Dems don't always recognize shitty offerings themselves or pay attention to their actual customers/constituencies.
But Antonio gets oh so boring so quick at times, even though yes, Hispanics including both Mexicans and Cubans are doing pretty well these days compared to "El Norte" films back in the 80's, which is driving Texas's demographic balloon for one and shapes a more complex response to welfare programs and ethnic angst.
"The progressive mobilization myth is alive and well"
The constant malpractice of the Democratic consultant class advising Democrats on the Hispanic vote is amazing. Here, Way to Win tells Democrats they did better with Florida Hispanics in 2020 than 2016 (LOL) and to focus on turnout, not persuasion. https://t.co/6Jy03Gwwyc

these two know what's really up, they see it, they know the people involved:
