SCOOP: Biden officials are seeking a border deal that would allow US to deport non-Mexicans to Mexico after Title 42 ends, as admin pivots to tougher enforcement ahead of 2024 election— with @mariasacchetti@ksieffhttps://t.co/DLGUkLOURf
Steve Scalise tweet showing GOP gonna keep doing whatever they can to brand the Democratic party as lax about immigration -
The House of Representatives just exercised our oversight over Washington, DC and passed a resolution disapproving the city's act allowing non-citizens to vote.
162 Dems voted against it.
Let that sink in. They are now on record supporting non-citizens voting in elections.
More stupid GOP posturing & twisting details. These guys are so interminably dishonest and assholes.
local elections. so lawful permanent residents (green card holders) get to vote in local elections. not federal elections which require US citizenship.
b/c democrats are in favor of democracy.

So yeah, you live legally in DC but you're not a citizen, so you get to vote for local dogcatcher and trash cleanup and other municipal issues and presumably mayor (but not powerless -anyway District Congressional representatives)
Meanwhile in Liverpool, England there was a large and partly violent protest against asylum seekers - see whole thread:
Huge mobilisation of far-right protestors outside a hotel for asylum-seekers in Knowsley, just outside of Liverpool. They've now set fire to a police van.
Cato Institute guys will give these super villain monologues explaining why the business community supports open borders yet somehow they’ve managed to convince DSA et al it’s a wise policy for the left to endorse pic.twitter.com/DVpgSB7EzD
Jamaican government moving to make it harder for Cubans to pass through here en route to making asylum claims in the United States.https://t.co/GVUpv1JZpj
“The Biden administration is considering reviving the practice of detaining migrant families who cross the border illegally — the same policy the president shut down over the past two years because he wanted a more humane immigration system” https://t.co/OkJGkSFIgg
