Ghana's Covid restrictions: Unvaccinated must get jabs on arrival - BBC News

Indiana is 1 of 6 states that currently accounts for the majority of the increase in patients hospitalized with COVID-19 over the last two weeks. This may be a pandemic of the unvaccinated, but the impact of overloading health care systems affects everyone. https://t.co/dLr7RK8gQJ
A group of “risk-averse” and “super responsible people” let their guard down enough to become unwitting vectors of COVID-19, showing just how vulnerable even vaccinated people remain to the virus when indoors and in groups.https://t.co/u6lIstyZhF

Omicron in Oakland: How a WI wedding with vaccinated people led to outbreak
“We just shouldn’t be having these large events now. If physicians and public health professionals can’t do it, there’s just no safe way to do it.” Furr-Holden said. https://t.co/vZvE2mywoy@sfchronicle

Eleven of the 12 confirmed COVID cases tied to an omicron outbreak in the East Bay last week are among fully vaccinated and boosted staff members of a Kaiser hospital in Oakland, who contracted the virus following an out of state wedding.https://t.co/NgpNOUrjWT

I have Long Covid, 21 months in. I thought I was recovering but a month ago I began losing cerebral spinal fluid from my right nostril and ear. MRI "normal" but have sudden tinnitus and intermittent deafness, loss of color vision in one eye, tremors, seizures, headache. Doomed.
No no don't think that
It WILL get better
I'm 18 odd mths in
Tinni is still there but easing
Migraines and the palpatations too
Get yourself referred to a LongCovid clinic if poss
Have your Iron and VitD levels tested too.
Hang in there

they REALLY don't know, it's not like you take regeneron and you're all better, back to normal; that's just saving your life, it may still be a lousy life for a real long time
(heck it could have fucked with the little brain matter and nervous system Trump had to start with...we don't know that either)
Our health care system is in a shitload of trouble for years to come. Easy prediction: getting decent, caring health care even if you're fully insured is going to be the new hot policy topic soon, no two ways about it
I wish people truly understood how exhausted healthcare workers are.
Whether it’s managing Covid or something else, we’re all just really tired.
“But even on the hardest days I box my emotions and get back to the work of caring for patients because I made a commitment to heal people, not hold grudges.” @DrRobDavidsonhttps://t.co/CBb4DNg29T
Even if everyone got vaccinated tomorrow, this problem would no longer be immediately solved because it would be too late. And it's everywhere, perhaps even worse in more socialized medical systems (that it normal times I think shoud be preferred) because there providers don't get the higher monetary compensation.
Cornell University is shutting down its Ithaca, New York, campus and moving to "alert level red" after a "rapid spread" of Covid-19 among studentshttps://t.co/d0ybKEzFE1
Some of the largest U.S. hospital systems have dropped covid vaccine mandates for staff as they face dire labor shortages for nurses, technicians and other workers. @RWhelanWSJ @_melaevans https://t.co/goLI4yhA78
Should have noted that a new mutation of Omicron with more deadliness and equal spread would throw this seemingly more benign evaluation out the window.
A better analysis from Eric Topol via Digby (no, it doesn't simplify or calm fears - we've got a complex mix of both Omicron & Delt for the coming future)
Researchers at Harvard Medical School now say the omicron variant, not delta, is likely fueling the current surge in Covid-19 cases in the northeastern U.S. https://t.co/Wspj0HQZcp
Clearly, the danger of the health care/hospital system imploding is a salient point, as is the hope that those who have become symptomatic will be able to use and access the new Pfizer drug
Thinks appear to have really taken off today in #NYC -- I long #COVID19 testing lines this morning, and now I am hearing that so many have queued today that testing centers are running out of supplies, sending people away.
Is it infection or #Omicron panic? We should know soon.

NEW—Cases are spiking in New York—and so are deaths now for 3 straight days! Reports in NYC that lines for urgent care testing centers are snaking around city blocks, with @SahilBloom reporting 30 friends positive today alone. #Omicron 13% today. Yeah, clearly it's coming mostly up from "Black Twitter" and I am actually enjoying a lot of the comments; I haven't seen such so much "black humor", small b, about Covid to date, and even better it mostly seems real savvy and knowledgeable about it. Haven't seen a single anti-vaxxer yet, and none of the dumb shit some Black celebs been voicing...
let’s hear it for the man who walked into CityMD without a mask to ask whether the 70-person line wrapped around the building was for COVID testing bc he needed one too
We're perilously close to the point where unvaccinated people pose the most serious threat to our national health. How do we deal with that? (I'm sorry to say - truly - that this includes close members of my own family.) https://t.co/HryEMXj6BK
I learned today that I tested positive for COVID-19 after first feeling symptoms on Saturday. My symptoms are relatively mild. I’m beyond grateful to have received two doses of vaccine and, more recently, a booster – I’m certain that without them I would be doing much worse.
Mayor de Blasio asks President Biden to invoke the Defense Production Act, says, rightly, that NYC needs more at-home tests, more monoclonal antibody treatments, and fast-tracking of Pfizer’s antiviral pill, Paxlovid.

show this to all and sundry who think the vaccines are risky:

Today's NYC trending on the Omaricon topic is City MD, has a lot of photos of long lines to compete with Miami and stuff like this -

So the panic is not just in NYC! Is this possibly something like: when NYC sneezes, Miami gets a cold?
