Feds have switched to advocating dropping priority age from 75+ to 65+. I know NYC did this last night. If you are 65 to 75, check your state and county, they may have as well! In NYC they don't have enough shots yet but they've opened the registration to get in line to 65+

Wide body jets hold up to 412, so the deaths are equivalent to 9 nearly full jumbo jets going down today in the U.S. with no survivors..

Or you could also do deaths by police of all colors of skin: four times the number died from Covid in one day, today, than were killed all year by U.S. police for all reasons (999 killed in 2020).

Exactly! I.E. Pfizer now saying EU can't get until March 31; this seems to be the general zeitgeist: promises not delivered. It's great that they invented them so quickly. Still: pie in sky. Meanwhile: mutations happen. People travel. Mutation moves to other countries. Lockdown after lockdown after lockdown. No back to "old normal."

This Debbie Downer will be pleasantly surprised if things manage a new and different normal from old normal and current normal in a year. I'd just like a better bead on what that is going to be. Especially if globalism remains virtual only for quite some time (I imagine you care about that, too.) I am hoping that Biden does the truth to power thing on that front so we can get a better bead on it all. Once again, there is an upside to him being so old: not as many reasons to spin people on what's really up.

One not so minor side effect of the pandemic is how this is going to change culture as far as mourning, funerals and memorials are concerned. Many are becoming used to the idea of people dying alone and giving up on any closure rituals, not just because there is no body but one cannot gather in person anymore either. A memorial service a couple years down the road doesn't have the same punch. A tribute on zoom must be choreographed and has no chance hugs and quietly expressed memories in the moment..
