interesting to note he is charged with violating the Matthew Shepard and James Byrd Jr. Hate Crimes Prevention Act, that it is still partly named after Matthew Shephard-mho, the name doesn't matter that much, the law itself is the thing but then names of other things (going back hundreds of years even) certainly do seem to bother a lot of people lately...

I think the general message of summer 2020 protests and riots from left of center: it's okay to vandalize something if it makes you angry, statues pulled down and dumped in water, whole downtowns covered with grafitti, and broken windows owned by "capitalists" everywhere ALL JUST FINE EXPRESSIONS OF OUTRAGE, shrug, completely excusable.
CHICKENS COME HOME TO ROOST. Different things anger different people, doh. How do you like them apples? We're not a democracy, everybody gets to express their anger at whatever people have legally built, including things built and paid for by the majority public. Just everybody do their thing and nobody is going to complain, no one on the left speaks out about it taking things into individual hands instead of due process, because: we're scared of angry righteousness, we don't want to upset them....

Like Mayor Lance-Bottoms said this is not how you protest...I for one as a NYC resident and not a business owner but realizing they are the life of our city would like it very much if this sort of thing is rigorously prosecuted. I really really disliked that it wasn't prosecuted in last year's protests but I realize that the manpower wasn't there. Still, it hurts the Democrats in the end not do so, not Republicans.
