“The subpoena to Ms. Manning, dated Jan. 22, says that she was ordered to appear on Feb. 5 before a grand jury at the federal courthouse in Alexandria, Va. But she said that date got pushed back, and she is now supposed to testify on March 5.” https://t.co/O37nzS45J7
I think this is a bad idea. She was a whistleblower who divulged we were killing civilians, she did serve her time, the prison guards did treat her like major crap, and she spilled to Wikileaks long befor Assange ruined the brand and teamed up with Russia. This more hurts news and journalism.
ETA - and then ran across this:
To me, one of the most horrifying things about the whole Russia thing has been watching some of Chelsea Manning's former supporters turn against her, especially now of all times. #FreeChelsea
If I did, I didn't mean to sound like it's a good thing. I'd just love to know what she doesn't want to testify about. We don't even know if it is her lawyers reasoning that this is less dangerous or Chelsea on principle...think we never will now...
One thing I do agree with her on: Grand Juries are awful and scary process. It's like the prosecutor(s) get extra help on their exams, to try a literal trial balloon before they bring a case, many mulligans.
Tho maybe more there that they didnt examine close enough the first time...
There were three statements/colloquies at the court-martial that involved Chelsea Manning directly. (I know because I transcribed them).
1) 11/29/12 & 11/30/12 (Pretrial) Article 13. The prosec did not cross exam her on charges, b/c hearing pertained to pre-trial confinement.
Now this is a perfect example of what's great about Twitter! (Yes, lotsa bad stuff but nobody is required to look at it. Mho, people only see so much bad stuff because: they don't know how to filter out the bad stuff, but more so, they have a desire to get a huge number "followers" rather than a very select audience of followers--they are basically asking for lowest common denominator by wanting that.)

Back to the pokey for Chelsea:
Chelsea Manning jailed for refusing to testify before grand jury in Virginia
Manning will be in custody until she testifies or until the grand jury ends its work.
