The Atlantic and The New Yorker have just published long essays that push back against the woke's genetics denialism and personal cruelty. What's going on? https://t.co/nwmLCMHZx1

Kind of related in a very strange way; current western civilization has this underlying principle of protecting unrelated young over grownups, at least medical professionals, who undoubtedly reported this reason for the baby's death:

The story is the same everywhere, though the particulars vary. Where it hasn't happened yet, it will soon.

could it just be strength in numbers, that other elites are just now realizing how unpopular the ideas of The Woke really are, and they therefore don't have to kowtow any more?
Between this and 96% of US Hispanics thinking 'LatinX' is dumb, I'm beginning to think 'wokeness' is really an elite white project being foisted undemocratically on the nation as some bizarre quasi-religious revival from former mainline Protestants.
One of the great mysteries is how every elite institution, from universities to corporations to media to even Sesame Street, all spontaneously coalesced on the same narrow set of values all of a sudden. https://t.co/j53zySG17Y
It'd be pretty unbearable for those bleeders to be recognized for their completepersonhood rather than their body functions, skin color, or if need be their well-documented hysterical emotional state. Why do they have to be so divisive?
It’s mainly just ridiculous, IMO. I do think it’s self-limiting, kind of like how the malolactic bacteria that eat sugar and poop ethanol eventually drown in their own excrement when the booze reaches about 15%.
the top tweet is wishful thinking, BTW, as I've seen other tweets showing that the current Scientific American editor is a woke wackadoodle that also favors things like attacking Disney iconography...real over the top stuff...
the problem is that what's old is new again is getting old again:

I grew up in South Africa post-apartheid, the resentment still held and old Boer battle stations like Cannon hill are left in ruins because it's a culture that was viewed as unsavoury. And now, living in the UK, you can see the same things happen. History is torn down because the past is messy. I fear for what we as a people will become. Willing to throw away yesterday's genius because it won't solve today's problem in the way we want.
There was a movie that came out in 2016 - The Legend of Tarzan. Instead of a simplistic adventure through the jungle like most Tarzan incarnations, it was politically and historically charged - Tarzan becomes involved in fighting off the Congolese slave trade. Samuel L. Jackson plays George Washington Williams, a real life figure who was involved in exposing Belgium's exploitation of the Congo.
The movie was excellent, in my opinion, but like most woke movies, it failed at the box office. And it was so certainly powered by the weaponized shame that the above comment describes. That's why most audiences didn't like it.
Not to sound harsh here but Andrew Sullivan's liberalism or conservatism or whatever it is that he subscribes to doesn't propagate itself. It might be completely rational to him but in absence of handing anything down to a new generation or a new group of people, it just represents the magical kingdom in his head.
Individualism allowed him to live a unique life of his choosing but unless he can talk to the people that wokeism or populism appealed to, his ideology is in the past.
Ah, the Yankees, always were an elite white supremacy operation (even tho taking the name of the north vs. the south) with adjacent enabling minorities, beating up on the Dominican guy with dark skin, keep then in their place. Amirite?
Wandy needs some public school reform types to come in and install one of those "no grades. no tests" systems where eveyrone gets a trophy no matter how they perform? And the team needs inclusivity training...
"The story of Black and white Americans frequently centers on abuse, dismissal and conflict, as it must. Beyond this, though, there has always been cultural melding, both above and below the radar," writes @JohnHMcWhorter. https://t.co/yTVWRwf0M6

Not everyone really wants to get along with others, and playing around with racial theories is a good way to rationalize it.

A comment that I thought was relevant. I read it on a song on YouTube:
