My summary of what they say: they're here for the capitalism, stupids; "socialism" is what they vote against
Equis has been consistent on this: “Regardless, a focus on ‘Defund the Police’ as a primary driver of Trump’s Latino vote ignores the mountain of evidence behind other, more obvious factors.” — Equis Research https://t.co/I1AsJoJUOq
Interesting reasoning one senior Democrat gave for voting against non-citizen voting. I suspect that if the Latino vote continues to shift right, we may see more of this. https://t.co/iPxUKvD2OU
Well citizenship is a federal status, local govts don't administer federal stuff. So there's still a benefit to being a citizen of course. I think it would be much more radical to suggest noncitizen voting rights for US govt https://t.co/aCx0ywT2h6
Good one re: the "socialist thing", and an extra good one as to thread topic!
Greene: *calls Democrats communists*
Raskin: We are not communists as the gentle lady from Georgia suggested, that’s just the friends of the former President who you lionize like the dictator of North Korea and Vladimir Putin..so those are your friends, don’t put them on our side pic.twitter.com/GUftYEkV3b
A category on the census that respondents can choose or not. Some call it an identity group but it seems that this group, it is made up of many different identities? Not like, say, soccer moms.
I just hadn't heard anyone talk about this group for a few years, though when i was younger I seem to recall they got a lot of attention. Are they still relevant? Are they still living La Vida Loca?
FWIW, he's still using it, but historically, like this, hah:
The Hispanic world clearly produced the finest revolutionaries and terrorists, and somehow around the 70s the world opted for far less tasteful and more barbaric cultures to fill that role and it’s just never been the same. https://t.co/HGCN3ZT41l
I have so many questions. Are Jamaicans Latinx? Why is there no Mideast-American category on the American census? Nor Australian-Aboriginal-American? Are Syrian-Germans Asian like the Chinese? Was Josephine Baker Afro-American or Afro-French? Is an Uighur Chinese? Is a Tibetan Chinese? Why did my grandfather and grandmother, who were both from a little town in Poland 90 miles from the capital of Ukraine, both say at Ellis Island (five years apart) that they were citizens of "Austria" (Austrian-Hungarian Empire), while when asked what "race or people" they were, my grandfather answered "Polish" and my grandmother answered "Ruthenian"?....

P.S. Our census is very racist. But I rarely see anyone complain about that, go figure.
