Important exchange between Congressman Brad Sherman and Amb. Mike Hammer today during a hearing of the House Committee. Sherman denounced a considered referendum in Western Tigray saying that "nothing is more phony than a referendum after an ethnic cleansing". 1/2
But even more important, Sherman asked if the US would pressure Ethiopia through IMF loans until she would be “on the right track”. Hammer responded that the US want to contribute to “economic reforms, privatization” etc. so as to prevent an “economic collapse”... 2/3
