How Have U.S. and State Capitols Braced for a ‘Proposed Secondary Attack’ Near Inauguration Day? We Asked Authorities in All 50 States for Answershttps://t.co/eTqJr7hNQo
The state of emergency declaration will remain in place from January 11 to 24 and gives DC supplemental federal law enforcement assistance from the Department of Homeland Security and the Federal Emergency Management Agency. The declaration follows a request for additional funding from DC Mayor Muriel Bowser after a mob of Trump supporters stormed the US Capitol in a violent attack last week.
Iink is to Twitter's compilation, the first news item currently at top the link has picture of the declaration:

whoever is doing the U.S. Capitol security decisions now, this certainly makes it clear that House GOP are not being informed, even if they are the ranking member of the House Admin committee
Rep. Rodney Davis told Mullin not to shout at Capitol Police, and he said: “This is not their fault, they’re doing their job.”
But Davis, who is the top Republican on House Admin, told me: “I’m pissed” that the mags have gone up without any consultation.
Do they whine like this when they visit any Federal courthouse or get on any airplane too? It's shocking that they haven't been going through metal detectors all along.
oh what a surprise NOT, the new proud to be gun totin nut case Rep. is causing a big stink over it:
Lauren Boebert has been arrested FOUR TIMES, including for resisting arrest. She joked about challenging colleagues to a duel, cheered the Capitol rioters and live-tweeted her colleagues’ locations. She claimed to be illegally armed in DC and wants to force guns into the Capitol. https://t.co/fN3cSyshXW
OMG, they were all allowed to carry onto the floor until today! Believe it or not.
Members have been able to carry guns on the floor until now. The implicit message of this is unmistakable: members of Congress cannot be trusted not to join in an insurrection. https://t.co/qLLnpv5eD4
Nancy's taken care of it, it will cost you plenty to try to carry that unexamined metal in your purse into our chamber:

A man was arrested in Florida for calling for an armed confrontation against protesters at the capital this Sunday. I'd been in touch with him over the past couple years because he fought in Syria with the YPG against ISIS and I'm doing a book. [thread] https://t.co/LGtgu5Tpdm
He seemed like a lone wolf type guy. A lot of the dozens of other YPG veterans I interviewed had distanced themselves from him. He was posting a lot of hyper-militant stuff on Facebook on and off for the last couple years.
Intense dude. His last message to me was to ask me why I was friends with a fascist on Facebook. It was another YPG veteran I was trying to learn about who turned into an outright Nazi, cheering the Charlottesville church shooting. Also from Florida.
Another YPG veteran I'd interviewed was recently sentenced to six years after he formed a small right wing militia and was confronting the police in his small town. Both he and the Florida Guy, Dan Baker, were military veterans.
Lots of the boogaloo bois are military veterans. I've been thinking a lot about this phenomenon of veterans veering toward terrorism. We train thousands of men to believe they are heroes, and many of them become disillusioned with the military, for good reason.
Disillusionment with government often follows. A question I've been thinking about is, where should these men go after they realize that the government they served isn't what they thought it was?
These veterans are often isolated, alienated from social movements that could be a force for developing their politics and strategies. Instead, they develop their politics through the internet, an make communities on social media, where politics are always warped.
Should we be surprised they are snapping? They have been trained to take action through militancy. They have been trained to be heroes. Many have PTSD. There is very little in terms of a meaningful community to take them in. So they try to take their actions they see as heroic.
I'm in Columbus, OH for the 'Refused to Be Silenced' armed rally on the 17th (tomorrow). The capitol area is already pretty much shut down with heightened police presence and some National Guard. #armedrallypic.twitter.com/y9h87ogDDw
