Doesn't surprise me at all, these are natural allies, one religion or another, doesn't matter which one. When was the last year any Soviet apparatchiks had liberal social values instead of conservative ones? Like 1935? You would know better than me. (We get confused because of the cognitive dissonance of all things Ronald Reagan narrative?)
