They didn't build that solution to the fiscal 'cliff', need Obama to do it for them:
...Sources familiar with the meeting said that Obama made no new offer to Republicans during the meeting, urging them to hold an up-or-down vote on a Democratic proposal to preserve existing tax rates for income under $250,000 and extend unemployment benefits (among other unresolved issues)...Republicans entered the meeting saying that the Senate must act first, "no matter what is offered." The House GOP has repeatedly said it would consider whatever legislation the upper chamber might pass, and send to the House.
