MURDER, POLITICS, AND THE END OF THE JAZZ AGE

The GOP platform pushback against those in America who are concerned about the easy availability of 100 round drum magazines and 30+ clips, and the increasing count of dead Americans resulting from their use by mentally deranged killers. Apparently, Republicans believe the Constitution protects their sacred individual freedom to fire off 100 rounds or more without changing the clip or magazine.
"Gun control only affects and penalizes law-abiding citizens," the 2008 Republican platform said. This year's platform adds, "We oppose legislation that is intended to restrict our Second Amendment rights by limiting the capacity of clips or magazines."
Limiting magazine size, as was done under the Clinton era assault weapons ban from 1994 until 2004, when the GOP and George W. Bush let it expire, would still leave law abiding citizens with up to 12 rounds per clip to defend themselves. That is 4 more rounds than WW2 GI's 8- clip M-1 carbine, which they used to turn back Japanese banzai charges.
