Reminiscent of NJ neighbors, used to have us over for eats. Daughter had a tough looking eastern European husband who ran a bar in Manhattan.

I recall him once relating when he first opened, NYC cops came by for 'protection' money. He paid. Then the local mob came by, they said don't pay the cops, pay us, we'll take care of the cops.

Trump is saying, Ukraine, don't make corrupt deals with Biden, do it with me and I'll take care of Biden.

Good story. Makes me think this is partly the "NY state of mind" (probably since 17th century?): complex payola schemes. Trump is a Queens guy still, as well as a Roy Cohn protege.
