Another thing we don’t understand: why people will respond to an article about weight loss without reading it, offering some dumb point addressed in the article faster than any other topic
The hunter-gatherer stuff is fascinating. Weird but also makes certain sense. Zoom out and I think global take is consistent with what I think is conventional wisdom, that drastic rapid weight loss sets you up for rebounding. Though fascinating if the body basically ...
2/ steals energy use from things like growth. Like this stuff is just math at some level, so to extent body is conserving in some other areas to allow you to run around a lot ... what are those other areas? Cognitive ability? Immunity? I mean, some daunting possibilities.
A doctor told me once that the science of weight loss is about where cardiology was sixty years ago. We know a lot of things, but there are huge gaps in our knowledge and our conventional wisdom may turn out to be completely wrong.
Also a lot of our perceptions are warped by a multibillion-dollar diet/weight loss industry that has a strong interest in perpetuating beliefs about fatness and weight loss that will keep people spending money on their products.
