IT’S NOT EASY to say which country America will fight in its next ill-advised war. It’s easier to say what one of the major causes of the war will be.

Your link has a link to a very good politico article on Bibi wanting war in 2012 and Obama not wanting war, published just a week ago that says this:

In January (2012), Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.) met with Mossad director Pardo in her Senate office, demanding that he explain the reason for movements by Israel’s 35th Brigade, as she was apparently informed by U.S. intelligence. Pardo didn’t know anything about the routine drill, but he later warned Netanyahu that continued pressure on the United States would lead to a dramatic measure, and likely not the one Netanyahu was hoping for.

Note Feinstein, and Obama, are reported to have restrained Bibi in movement to war on Iran. Democrats. Both sides are not the same.

The Republicans, Fox News, Donald Trump and voters who actively or apathetically (k'rupt duopoly! both sides!) helped elect him may get us into a war.

Trump could set the ball rolling by canceling the Nuclear Agreement.

That which I added emphasis to is exactly what cognitive empathy is all about. Good catch.

Regarding Wright's article at The Intercept, which is largely about serious shortcomings in our country's news reporting, I couldn't find anything wrong with it either. Check out his Blogginheads site.

No, the question of 2018 is the same as the question or 2017 and 2015 and 2012 and 2009 and 2007 and 2004: Why the wide world of sports are men like Mr. David Brooks paid astronomical salaries by once-respectable national media institutions to repeat these particular lies over and over again.

Lies that are so manifestly ridiculous. Lies that are so easily debunked. For example, the now-universally agreed upon Beltway lie about the origins of the disaster we are all living through. The lie which proclaims that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with Mr. Brooks' Republican Party. That until two years ago, his party was just fine. and then somehow single, depraved person sprang fully-formed out of nowhere to seized control of all it. .......As if we had not all just lived through an eight-year real-time beta test of what happens when the unending, unhinged seditious sabotage and slanders from the racist Birther/Death Panel Republican Party is countered with a bottomless well of nearly-superhuman patience, civility, and open-handedness. What happened -- over the increasingly hysterical denials of Mr. David Brooks -- is that the Republican Party nominated, elected and stands firmly and giddily behind the anti-Obama. A racist, pig-ignorant fire demon who, in every way, reflects exactly who and what Mr. Brooks' Republican Party always has been....

A memo to the publisher of the New York Times.

The key point is that when it comes to recent American wars, the Times offers coverage without perspective. “All the news” is shallow and redundant. Lots of dots, few connections.
