The scale of the wreckage from Hurricane Ian was staggering, even to Florida residents who had survived and rebuilt after other powerful hurricanes. https://t.co/sPJ35TQivA
“Cape Coral now has 200,000 residents. It’s got no colleges, tourist attractions, or major industries—its top employers are its government, hospital, and supermarkets …it still one of America’s fastest-growing cities …” https://t.co/9ELzhzEE4i
Apparently Dana Bash was all into "messaging" or some other weak tea the day after Jan6 insurrection.
Maybe she's getting harder, or just had a good day. In any case, keep it up.
Marcy Wheeler's fighting against people just echoing & amplifying Trump rather than figuring out how to highlight his lies and counter his messaging & spin. Lots of reporters think they're reporting, but they're just playing into his game anyway. Same goes for much of the GOP messaging - absurd, but gets promoted & air time, even as more important stuff gets put on the backburner.
De Santis hard at work - when not dragging refugees off to Martha's Vineyard, delaying evacuation til the last minute on natural crises. Remember all the press time given to Al Gore's slight misstatement over FEMA? I'm sure they won't hold De Santis to near that standard. Guess I'm bitter....
ROTFLMAO. I've always said best way to fracture the black vote is w/straight working class black men. Once you do that, Dems can't win bc their deficit they have w/loss of WWC voters requires a ridiculously high percentage of non-white voters just to even still be in contention. https://t.co/lfdEOKq71R
at the same time, there's so many easy comebacks, i.e., how much help from the Feds aided victims of forest fires in northern California?
In the end, the question is: Are natural disaster victims really satisfied with the help they get from Federal sources? Is it the best way this should be done?
An army of more than 42,000 utility workers have descended on southwest Florida since Hurricane Ian left 2.6 million homes and businesses without power in one of the worst storms to ever hit the US https://t.co/E4Vigdlj42
“I want to thank President Biden,” said DeSantis in Fort Myers Beach, following Biden’s immediate approval of the governor’s request for a disaster declaration before Ian even hit...
, as well as a doubling of the normal 30-day window in which affected areas can get full reimbursement for debris removal. “Mr. President, welcome to Florida. We appreciate working together.”
Biden, for his part, had only praise for DeSantis.
“I think he’s done a good job. Look, I called him ― I think even before he called me — when I heard this storm was on its way. We worked hand-in-glove."
"We have very different political philosophies, and — but we worked hand-in-glove,” Biden said. “And he’s been on — on things related to dealing with this crisis, we’ve been completely lockstep. There’s been no difference.”
Not only that, I have seen "liberal media" earlier try to imply that DeSantis purposely didn't give evacuation orders in certain areas in enough time and what I think of that is: BULLSHIT. I saw more than one of DeSantis' press conferences during the crisis live and his caring and professionalism came across very strong.
It became ever clearer that his culture warring shit is targeted at a national audience to "own the libs.". Those of you buying it and getting all outraged are being USED. Basically: every liberal and lefty attack on him helps him, he sets his sight on exactly that, never aggravating most Floridians.
For the umpteenth time: if the Democratic party wants to win swing areas like Florida, they have to disavow The Woke left, as they take the bait from GOP figures to reveal themselves on culture wars. And the center wants nothing to do with their views, doesn't want to see them coddled, want to see them disavowed.
p.s. what I saw of Biden's official remarks in FL, they were EXCELLENT. Seriously the best I've ever seen from a president during a major disaster. Importantly stressing his own role of breaking through the Federal bureaucracy and getting aid moving, seeing what he could do about insurance law, etc.
DeSantis: We were very fortunate to have good coordination with the White House and FEMA.. We got a major disaster declaration approved by the President and we really appreciated that and that basically set off the massive mobilization that we had ready pic.twitter.com/aQJxVvibnA

a valid point to think about:

Proof IT DOESN'T HAVE TO BE A ZERO-SUM GAME:
I saw this my very self live on CNN teevee earlier today. Not click producing tho
