(Keep in mind THAT MEANS THEY ALSO HAVE 28% KOOKS, they will always be with us and in democracies you can't lock them up for being kooks, you have to live with them and tolerate them as long as they don't break the law.)

Germany's governing coalition has shot up in approval ratings amid the massive public health crisis unleashed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Support for the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has dropped.

My point: I think all of my fellow members on this site often get too worked up about how we have an extra stupid population, as if other countries don't have to struggle with this, and also get too worked up over Trump's approval ratings, which have always been pretty damn low in context of all presidents. For the umpteenth time: there's the 1/3.that will never vote blue, and then there's the 8% swings, who don't like a lot of the stuff that liberals throw at them or don't feel that the left cares about the same things they do or similar. And that 8% often makes or breaks the presidential race and the Senate. You sure as hell don't get them by lumping them in with deplorables and racists or calling them idiots for voting for Trump as a trial  alternative to status quo that they were unhappy with.
