MSNBC Host Joy Reid uses the tragic death of a young woman to complain that the media doesn't cover the tragic disappearances of other young women. She can cover whatever she wants. She's a cable news host. But she prefers stoking racial conflict.https://t.co/os8OtYKpad
Let's say news networks spent more time covering things like homicides in Baltimore or Chicago, searching for individual missing people and helping capture the perpetrators. What do you think Joy Reid would say about that? The game here is stoking conflict not helping people.
Unlike Reid I actually do think more attention should be paid to regular violence in those places, but her political faction is obsessed with reifying race and promoting conflict, not saving people and promoting peace. https://t.co/os8OtYKpad
How much media organizations focus on certain victims has nothing to do with the categorization of the victims but what they believe to be the categorization of perpetrators. This is pretty obvious.
If perpetrator X is aligned with the media organization's political agenda and worldview, then the victim will be much more likely to be highlighted. If it's the same victim but not the correct perpetrator, it's much less likely to be highlighted.
Man bites dog, killer on the road, Bonnie & Clyde, unsolved disappearance - know your audience, these are the narratives that drive them. "More senseless killing in the city"? nah, hardly an attraction - turn on sports.
After all, there are an awful lot of people with black skin on TV news shows these days, out of all proportion to their actual percentage of the population. Whereas the term "Hispanic" covers a much much bigger percentage. I would suggest: check out the latest census for details!!!
A story that matches a lot of the mystery of #Petito...Daniel Robinson. Doesn't have the social media angle and footage and bizarre aspect of loved one who won't help in search. But the circs of 24 yo's disappearance very odd. https://t.co/Iy2HMIJtdU
An Illinois coroner has identified a body found earlier this month as missing graduate student Jelani Day, who was last seen in late August https://t.co/zRiEFLbO7O
"We all are confused," says David Robinson II of his missing son, Daniel Robinson.
"My son loved his family. He would not go anywhere without telling us... He would not go out into the desert... my son, mysteriously disappeared. That's all we do know." pic.twitter.com/pnGTXqltID
A geologist was last seen on June 23rd leaving his job site in an Arizona desert. About a month later, his jeep was found in a ravine about 4 miles from there. His clothes, cellphone, wallet and keys were recovered from the jeep - but Daniel Robinson was nowhere to be found. pic.twitter.com/dslqP15FSt

True. And so many are unsolved and often even unreported. But again - right now many are focused on finding and engaged thanks to interest in #Petito case. so maybe tonight someone can help. https://t.co/dB3WFLujJu
True. But we are having a moment so let's try! #ReathaMayFinkbonner disappeared in vegas, last seen on sept 3. Member of Lummi tribe. Pic in my timeline. And Dan, we went to law school together. You are now a great comedian. Congrats! https://t.co/9SM4AGw9Zq

By tweeting this about the latest report, isn't "Reid Out" staff implying people like Joy should be replaced by a Hispanic person?
