Forget the debates about Helen Gurley Brown vs. Betty Friedan. I think Phyllis was the underappreciated grande dame of ceiling and ground breaking, especially about "the problem that had no name;" as the obit notes: assuring audiences that she fed Fang and her kids garbage soup and buried her ironing in the backyard. I became a fan as a little girl, and I will always be one.
Edit to add: I can't but help notice the name of the obit writer: is that a joke or for real? What would Phyllis say?
