All he has to do is produce the people who transcribed his lyrics, and those who read his contracts and performance agreements to him.

Don’t understand why you took it there. There is no question that the system is racist. There is also no question that Kelly benefited from his celebrity and presumed money. The victims were black women who are systematically dismissed.

For many who watched the six-part documentary “Surviving R. Kelly,” hearing directly from several women who described sexual abuse at the hands of the R&B star prompted a troubling question: Has Kelly remained popular and largely not faced criminal consequences because his accusers are black?

Rebecca Epstein, a researcher at Georgetown University, thinks so. She co-authored a 2017 study that found black girls are viewed by adults as more sexually mature than white girls in the same peer group. As a result, when black girls are victims of sexual assault, they are less likely to be believed by those who see them as older than they actually are.

“What our research indicates is that black girls face even greater skepticism by the figures that wield such authority over their lives than other victims of sexual violence,” said Epstein, executive director at the law school’s Center on Poverty and Inequality

When it came down to it, black women knew they were on their own.

They were the ones who kept beating the drum against singer R. Kelly over allegations he's abused and sexually preyed on black girls and women for decades.

Kelly has consistently denied such accusations and has never been convicted of a crime connected to them.

But these women watched as other prominent men in the entertainment industry were called out as the #MeToo movement brought to light instances of sexual misconduct tied to power.

I took it there because it's clear to me with this that he's gonna play the race card. (I.E., Clarence Thomas, O.J. Simpson..............) Got a bad education, and that was all racism's fault. Remains to be seen what it gets him.

The race card is a myth initiated by white supremacists. R Kelly told Wendy Williams about his reading problem. It should be simple to prove in court. Kelly made a similar statement in 2009.

It is possible that he did have a poor education because of racially biased funding of his school. He could have dyslexia or another issue that causes a problem with reading. Most people with education and speech impediments do not become rapists. Bill Cosby’s defense team noted the racial bias in the judicial system. Bill Cosby was convicted. The mythical race card is an ineffective defense. Actual racial bias is an actual defense.

The presentation of the citizen's complaint, by itself, did not affect jurors' determination of the defendant's guilt. The race card strategy had no effect on verdicts when the only evidence of racial bias was the citizen's complaint of racial slurs in an unrelated traffic stop.

The defendant's testimony that the officer used racial slurs, by itself, also did not affect jurors' determination of the defendant's guilt. The race card strategy had no effect when it hinged entirely on the defendant's testimony.

The race card strategy reduced verdicts of guilt when other evidence of the arresting officer's racist attitudes supported the testimony of the defendant. The combination of the defendant's testimony and the presentation of the citizen's complaint significantly reduced guilty verdicts. The combination of the defendant's testimony and a corroborating witness's testimony, regardless of race, reduced guilty verdicts.

Notably, the race card strategy never caused a "backfire" effect - no harm came to the defense from raising the race issue, even when only offering the defendant's uncorroborated testimony or only presenting the citizen's complaint.

The race card strategy can reduce guilty verdicts, and its effectiveness is contingent on the presence of additional evidence supporting a defendant's claims of racial bias.
