But a progressive won in another New York district after the primary results were certified there. Ritchie Torres declared victory in an open seat to represent the 15th congressional district, and prepared to join another New Yorker, Mondaire Jones, as the first two openly gay Black members of Congress.
Medicaid Expansion passed in Missouri by the voters. Claire McAskill is celebrating:
Thank you my friend. I’m thrilled tonight. Now we must stop Trump and Hawley from wiping it out, which they are trying to do in the courts right now. https://t.co/haFsT2lmGo
Cori Bush, a nurse and Black Lives Matter Activist, is projected by the AP to win a Democratic primary in Missouri, ousting William Lacy Clay, a longtime incumbent. Clay, who succeeded his father, has represented the 1st District since 2001. https://t.co/zfBskFujBO
Note Clay succeeded his father, putting the 2 of them in the House 52 years. Meanwhile, St Louis lost a Rep in 2010, And McCaskill wasn't happy how Clay handled splitting the remaining 2 districts (putting all St Louis city under him, Country remains White presumably). I'm sure Ferguson brought a new dynamic, as did this year, And I imagine this was a rejection of the old stodgy family-run business as it was a vote for radical left in times of crisis. Bush Is likely the "get shit done" candidate.

She won by a 2/3-1/3 margin. Did they just not stay up late enough?
After the vote tally barely moved all evening and through the early morning hours, at about 7 a.m., the count on the Wayne County website shot up to 87% of the precincts being tabulated. It showed Tlaib with 66% of the vote to Jones' 34%.
Just struck me now reading your comment that it probably is good if all of us news junkies keep in mind that the state of the news business is this: fewer and fewer in the news biz are getting decent pay and there are fewer of them all the time. We used to be able to infer ideology or groupthink or spin or even things like conspiracy into things like editing. It's increasingly more likely though, that when we see something odd, it's just incompetence of inexperienced cheap newbie or overwhelmed to the point of not giving a shit anymore. They are on a 24/7 hamster wheel and just gotta get the current piece done and up on the net and move on to the next one. Can't infer what we used to....
Yeah, but when same headline's there at 9pm the following eve, cutting corners Is a bit rich. And this was a rabble rousung headline, so someone had some feeling in it, would think theyd go, "oops, not quite" later on. But guess Its just a job
one of more than a dozen Native candidates who prevailed in Tuesday’s primaries.
"Change is happening with this election, and Christina Haswood is part of that change," Navajo Nation President Jonathan Nez said after Tuesday's primary election. Haswood will be Kansas' youngest sitting legislator. #NativeVote20https://t.co/kiCgvPDZYA
