MURDER, POLITICS, AND THE END OF THE JAZZ AGE
by Michael Wolraich
More make believe pabulum for the brainless zombies of The Base. Romney “Even Jimmy Carter would have given that order.” Sure. Any wimp (which Republicans like to pretend Carter was, the guy who made peace between Egypt and Israel) would have sent dozens of US troops into the nuclear armed sovereign state of Pakistan to capture or kill bin Laden, all without consulting the Pakistan government in advance. Except for John McCain. And except for The Decider, George W. Bush.
Obama did not 'work with the Pakistani government' as John McCain advocated in 2008, and George W. Bush did for 8 years, giving Pak billions in aid, with no demands for controlling terrorism. The Pakistani government, or elements of it, were complicit in protecting OBL in the military garrison city of Abbottabad, they were not informed to preserve the safety of the troops and the secrecy of the operation.
John McCain, First Presidential Debate, September 26, 2008:
...So I'm not prepared to threaten it, as Senator Obama apparently wants to do, as he has said that he would announce military strikes into Pakistan.
We've got to get the support of the people of -- of Pakistan. He said that he would launch military strikes into Pakistan. Now, you don't do that. You don't say that out loud. If you have to do things, you have to do things, and you work with the Pakistani government.....
The Republicans would have to wait a very long time for 'the people of Pakistan' to turn over OBL who was deemed a 'hero' in Pakistan.

From NYT on Romney:
"Even Jimmy Carter...."? So Romney takes a cheap shot at an 87-year-old guy who has nothing to do with his cat fight with Barack Obama? What a brave gentleman you are, Mr. Romney. Just proves that money can't buy class.

Also too comes to mind--such a savvy campaigner--why, he just continaully dedazzles and amazes every day--here he's betting on the post-50 demographic who know who Jimmy Carter is and what he did and didn't do.

Someone should ask Romney, if he has any Iran / Contra like deals in the works.
Or will we have another October surprise?
Romney buys the hotels in Charlotte NC, the site selected for the 2012 Democratic convention; in order to avoid another Watergate fiasco; no need for a breakin, he's the owner, he has the keys? Check your lease agreement.

Good questions, all. I'd like to think that in the long run, history will be kinder to Carter than to Reagan. I'm probably deluding myself, though. Historically, history hasn't always been accurate…
