Senate Republicans used their first Biden-era filibuster to block a proposed Jan. 6 commission, handing liberals a new argument for nuking the 60-vote threshold https://t.co/uWF3Sf6hYt
GOP use of the filibuster to block investigating the insurrection and much else will soon boomerang by persuading Manchin & Sinema that the 60-vote threshold has to go.
After Jan. 6 bill fails, Schumer says better to investigate in a House Dem-led select committee than not at all. Asked him about a Senate probe and he wouldn’t say.
Choosing to put politics and political elections above the health of our Democracy is unconscionable. And the betrayal of the oath we each take is something they will have to live with. My statement on the January 6th Commission vote: pic.twitter.com/tlPme9LMIo

"betrayal of the oath we each take is something they will have to live with". Manchin
" They", the posturing, insincere, deceitful, dishonest, dissembling, duplicitous, two-faced, lying Trump worshipping scoundrels ARE fine living with it, as are the vast majority of the 74 million members of The GOP Base, the Trump cult. Somebody should tell Joe M.
Unfortunately, everyone else, including future generations, will also have to live with the irreparable damage that a Party whose sole goal is unaccountable power by any means, and at any cost, is doing to the future of this nation and it's citizens.
Thank you to Senators Cassidy, Collins, Murkowski, Portman, Sasse, and Romney for voting for truth and defense of our constitution. History will remember those who put country ahead of politics.
Surprising view from an activist in the trenches of NYC urban planning, experienced in dealing with NYC politicians all the time (mostly opposing their folllies) I consider him quite liberal, in a Jane Jacobs sort of way, also cynical:
Democrats can only overcome the risk of extreme right-wing rebellion by being responsive to the crises in the country. A commission is a side issue and mostly gives head-in-the-sand liberals something to obsess about.

Given the current state of the, it becomes less likely that Manchin will be re-elected in West Virginia
He will lose just like Doug Jones lost in Alabama
If he continues to block bills on infrastructure and combating voter suppression, his legacy will be damaged.

That may be so but if he loses it won't be a more moderate democrat that wins. It will be a republican

I think it behooves to keep in mind that the U.S. is not the only country experiencing the phenomenon of 40% of the population crazy and pandered to and causing big problems because of that. It's not just the UK, either.
