as some immigrants tend to say: ah America, what a country?
NEW: In early March, work began to quickly dry up for Maria and Maribel. So the two undocumented domestic workers from #StatenIsland teamed up to make masks. Now, they’re working seven days a week. https://t.co/gNQp05P1BO
Taiwan, what a country! (Such a perfect contrast to the above, da socialist vs. da capitalist health care)
We received a most precious package today: masks! Distributed free of charge from the Ministry of Health to all citizens - the beauty of its universal health care system.

Yes I have been following that. I wonder what to make of the censorship attempts. Doesn't make sense. Because it's really been our "potter's field" all along for the unidentified dead and I don't see any reason to hide it from us unless 1) they are trying to hide numbers--in which case I question why, doesn't make sense, or 2) some clueless cop is trying to "protect" us from knowing how many people abandoned bodies because they didn't want to or couldn't pay for funeral services in this situation, or WHAT? Again, because people have been buried there all along, it's what it's for, it's a cemetery island:
....The remains of more than one million people are buried on Hart Island, though since the first decade of the 21st century, there are fewer than 1,500 burials a year...
Although I have always thought funerals a very important ritual, I think about what I would do if I were in charge of dealing with a family member's death now, and there was no plot or crypt already purchased and maybe I have to be quarantined because I was with the person, then there;s the fact that people can't gather and there is no travel: just let go-get real, why spend any money on the body? Have a memorial service later, forget the body, as hard at that would be, what else is there to do? Cremation or abandonment to potter's field.

p.s. dealing with all the dead bodies IS a major problem:
