This column, by nonlawyer Jen Rubin, is far better than most of the lawyer analysis I've seen on tv today. Really excellent work. https://t.co/WL3BXLaETW
The White House Press Secretary just said “the big takeaway” from recent Supreme Court decisions is “we need more conservative justices on the courts.”
I think the big takeaway is we need a more law-abiding President in the White House.
Today, the Supreme Court, including two of the President’s appointees, affirmed that President Trump is not above the law, recognized Congress’s constitutional authority to conduct oversight #ForThePeople & upheld the separation of powers that is the genius of our Constitution.
WH Chief of Staff Mark Meadows says "most Americans don't care" about the President's tax returns. Still views the investigations of Trump's financial records as "a fishing expedition," and says it's "critically important we don't allow Federal agencies to be weaponized." pic.twitter.com/PUn8RdqOli
for a president who prizes loyalty, the votes of Kavanaugh and Gorsuch may have felt like a betrayal. Moreover, their judgment again undercuts a key messaging point of his campaign: that his Supreme Court picks will deliver victories for conservative Republicans.
