This should frighten you. Not just brazen politicization of intelligence, but also someone who is utterly incompetent in an important security role. The guardrails are gone. https://t.co/c9qHn2KlyM
Breaking now: Kash Patel, a former NSC official who also played a key role as a Hill staffer in helping GOP discredit the Russia probe, is now a senior adviser for new acting DNI Richard Grenell, according to 4 people familiar with the matter. @dlippmanhttps://t.co/PUb3V8iFoU
I agree this is truly scary, that it's by far the scariest thing Trump has attempted to date. If Congress isn't able to reign this in, hopefully there's some brave whistleblowers in "the troops" and many willing to just continue honoring the oath they took despite pressure from the idjits above them appointed by Trump. Unfortunately, there have also been a lot of rogues in "the troops" as well.
New: Trump’s new intel chief Ric Grenell, widely known as a Trump loyalist, called Trump “dangerous” and spoke out regularly in favor of John Kasich in 2016, according to deleted tweets we reviewed. He also called Trump “reckless” and “unserious.” https://t.co/ewUSXZqLuZ
p.s. Don't gloss over that story because of my quip; it may be quite important. Apparently Trump may have appointed him in a mistaken panic about what the House was being told about Russian interference in 2020.
That in this panicked state he just grabbed for the most convenient loyalist lackey available. By headlining the story this way, I think Law and Crime is suggesting that perhaps in such desparate instances, he just grabs for the Trump Gold Member list?
"As Americans we should be frightened," retired Navy admiral William McRaven writes in an op-ed about the ouster of his friend Joseph Maguire https://t.co/8kon51xFNN
McRaven, who oversaw the 2011 Navy SEAL raid in Pakistan that killed Osama bin Laden, writes in Opinions that Americans should be "deeply afraid for the future of the nation." https://t.co/FCJ61w2D2Ipic.twitter.com/oHHTYuVH4e

on the other hand, the fun part: where does this leave the "deep staters" now?
