Impeachment is coming - by Xmas? only 50 shopping days left.
1/* (THREAD) The transcript of former US Ambassador to Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch, released today makes #TRE45ON's impeachment & conviction look WAY more likely, as summed up here & with the key facts detailed at length in the subsequent posts:#OneVoice1https://t.co/qQ3LBTSNJ0
[....] To sum up: American officials, acting at the instructions of Giuliani, who was in turn acting at the instructions of Trump, held up military aid desperately sought by a vulnerable ally under Russian military attack to coerce Zelensky into carrying this whole scheme to fruition.
This testimony is especially damaging coming from Sondland. Nearly all the others who have given damaging testimony about Ukraine are career foreign policy and national security officials. Trump has derided them as “Never Trumpers.” Even if that allegation is a scurrilous one, he couldn’t say it about Sondland [....]
Sargent also implies it was Amb. Taylor's testimony that was the catalyst in Sondland revising his testimony:
[....] But then Ambassador William Taylor, who texted contemporaneously about his alarm over exactly that quid pro quo, confirmed it in deeply damning testimony. And White House national security adviser Tim Morrison, who had been discussing these matters with Taylor, confirmed Taylor’s account.
Which apparently jogged Sondland’s memory. In a new statement appended to the transcript of his testimony, Sondland clears it up once and for all:
Also, I now do recall a conversation on September 1, 2019, in Warsaw with [Zelensky aide Andriy] Yermak. This brief pull-aside conversation followed the larger meeting involving Vice President Pence and President Zelensky, in which President Zelensky had raised the issue of the suspension of U.S. aid to Ukraine directly with Vice President Pence. After that large meeting, I now recall speaking individually with Mr. Yermak, where I said that resumption of U.S. aid would likely not occur until Ukraine provided the public anti-corruption statement that we had been discussing for many weeks.
(we've got standard, recurring behaviour and expected compliance of underlings, what they need to do to incur favour or survival. For those who are new or dense, it's laid out explicitly. For those who've been around, like Stone & Cohen & Manafort, they know the ropes w/o explicit orders. So Cohen's statement that he knew something was what Trump wanted is now an order, not just a guess. Stone invoking the guy in Godfather wh had to shut up, literally take the bullet? A dire warning & threat. Thanks, KT. I'd thought you were going to be on the rogue's side.
I had forgotten Eisenberg's role in the Mueller probe -- he provided pretty significant testimony against Flynn in that investigation. pic.twitter.com/TzAOpHBebJ
Lordy, it's worse than we've been told by exiles and as bad as some anonymice have claimed. The White House really is like that scene from The Last Emperor where adult aides go nuts trying to indulge the crazy commands of a child emperor. The NSC actually had to spend serious time on his idea about Greenland:
Taylor mentions that the “Sec of Defense & State, CIA Director & NSA sought a joint mtg w/ Trump to convince him to release the aid, but scheduling the mtg was difficult. One reason? “It was about the time of the Greenland q, purchasing Greenland, which took up energy in NSC”. pic.twitter.com/2mRaXhO9ha
OK, forgive me but I'm jumping back and forth between and among testimonies. I'll try to maintain consistent threads... Here's Taylor's. Bolton, apparently, told him to cable Pompeo directly about his concerns about withholding military aid: https://t.co/y9aygwF3sPpic.twitter.com/yTT9ZJgWoz

Both WaPo and NYTimes currently have Sondland's flip-flop as their website headlines. NYTimes also has this:
Two more closed-door depositions were released, and our reporters combed through the documents. Read their analysis here.

Greg Sargent @ WaPo summing up why this is headline stuff: Gordon Sondland just gave us this scandal’s smoking quid pro quo. It's devastating the "anti-Trump deep state conspiracy" excuse:
Sargent also implies it was Amb. Taylor's testimony that was the catalyst in Sondland revising his testimony:
