"She loves MS-13," Trump says of Nancy Pelosi tonight in Tennessee.@ccadelago and I have a bit about how Trump is using some fiery -- and dishonest -- language to rev up the base.https://t.co/4m6LUHExQE

With the primary season winding down and the midterms soon upon us, it’s time to point out that this election is not about what you may think it’s about. It is not a choice between the particular basket of policies offered by the candidates for House or Senate in your district or state — policies like gun control, right to choose, free trade or fiscal discipline. No, what this election is about is your first chance since 2016 to vote against Donald Trump.
As far as I am concerned, that’s the only choice on the ballot. It’s a choice between letting Trump retain control of all the key levers of political power for two more years, or not.
If I were writing the choice on a ballot, it would read: “Are you in favor of electing a majority of Democrats in the House and/or Senate to put a check on Trump’s power — when his own party demonstrably will not? [....]
you're welcome to, I'd rather leave it here, I'm chicken, I rather not have to deal with varied and sundry Friedman bashing from guys like Lulu, Maiello and Wolraich that doing so would likely evoke. He's a war monger, should never be forgiven. Or doesn't deserve to be a best selling author Or Second in stupidity to David Brooks. or can't stand his preachiness Etc.
Sen. Mark Warner warns that Americans may soon tire of the Russia investigation.

[....] Sen. Mark Warner, a Virginia moderate who would take over the Intelligence Committee should Democrats win back the Senate in November, played down the idea that he would devote the panel’s work to a renewed investigation of the president’s Russia ties.
“The notion for those who may be partisans in the crowd … ‘Well, gosh, if Democrats take control, they’ll be able to really ramp these up’ — I think the American public will be tired of it if this is not wound down in this calendar year,” Warner said during a technology and politics conference in Southern California.
Warner’s comment, which clashes with calls for impeachment and fresh investigations by several Democratic candidates, illustrates the party’s internal conflict over how to talk about Russia [....]
“Senator Donnelly, thank you very much,” Trump said. “That’s really great. Appreciate it. Thank you.”
Shortly after the event, Donnelly issued a statement that highlighted Trump’s praise. “I was proud to join President Trump at the White House, as he signed my right to try bill into law, “ the senator said.
Trump showed a similar flexibility in his rhetoric toward GOP targets last week when he thanked Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) at a signing ceremony for her support of legislation that rolls back banking regulations passed in response to the 2008 financial crisis.
Heitkamp is considered one of the most endangered Senate Democrats in November.
Stephen Miller once tormented liberals at Duke. Now the president’s speechwriter and immigration enforcer is deploying the art of provocation from the White House.

[....] I’m sitting across from Stephen Miller in his spacious, sunlit West Wing office, trying to figure out whether he’s trolling me. A provocateur as skilled as Miller doesn’t just announce when he’s saying something outlandish to get a rise out of you—he tries to make you think he means it. So you have to look for the subtle tells. The fleeting half-smirk when he refers to himself as a “conservative social-justice warrior” early in the conversation. The too-emphatic tone he takes later when he says the best movie he’s seen in the past 15 years is The Dark Knight Rises, and then chides you for not properly appreciating its commentary on the French Revolution.
“It takes on the issue of anarchy and social breakdown in a really interesting way,” he says of the Batman movie. “There’s a lot going on in the film that you, of all people, I’d have thought would be all over.” [....]
