Back to the 1950's indeedy do. This is something that anyone that travels should care about. Landlines are disappearing in many of those type of areas, too. Because the companies find no profit in servicing them anymore. Back to driving a hunnerd miles or so to "town" to make a phone call? At least there will be fodder for more maniac-killer-in-the-wilderness movies. Don't throw out those paper maps just yet.
