I think he thinks he is being ironic and edgy, I hate to inform him he isn't. I've read the link to Derbyshire's blog of overt racism. I've linked instead to a Forbes opinion article.

I will put the link here if you dare go to a place called Taki's Magazine.  Derbyshire is supposedly describing a talk he gives his children about how to avoid being harmed by a black person. Wait, what? Yikes, the link to Forbes explains everything.

Here are a few examples of the advice he gives to his kids after they put their hoods on and burn some crosses together:

“If planning a trip to a beach or amusement park at some date, find out whether it is likely to be swamped with blacks on that date,” and “If you are at some public event at which the number of blacks suddenly swells, leave as quickly as possible", and this "Your own ancestry is mixed north-European and northeast-Asian, but blacks will take you to be white."
