One of the biggest problems I see in politics today is the utter lack of experience that the Current crop of people have. Not just in politics, but in everything. Few if any have been over seas, had anything to do with the military or even held any other public office.
We would think it crazy to put someone fresh out of trade school or college in charge of plant operations or as a foreman but we have no problem with electing them to a high office.
So they come in with their (sometimes crazy) ideals but lack any understanding of why they are crazy.
I don't think the gender gap will narrow before November, like the GOP wishes. Santorum is going to want his turn giving a speech at the convention and will remind the ladies why they shouldn't vote Republican anywhere on their ballot. If the Supreme Court tosses out ACA or gut it, women will take the GOP to the woodshed because women are the majority of caretakers in this country.

None of this is totally surprising.
