The CIA is building a secret air base in a neighboring country to Yemen, as support for bombing Yemeni people with drones. This while the impoverished country of 23 millions falls apart. Protestors demand an end to rule by Yemen's wounded American backed leader, who is currently in Saudi Arabia for medical treatment after his compound was hit by rockets, or artillery, or possibly a suicide bomber, reports have varied. Yemen borders on the oil rich state of Saudi Arabia.

The chaos in Yemen has recently been cited in the NYT as allowing the Pentagon's Joint Special Operations Command more freedom in hunting down the FedEx ink cartridge bombers and the American Islamic cleric who roams the deserts of Yemen.  He is deemed a major target for the Yemen operations which have been officially budgeted in the tens of millions. Obama seems to be giving the Pentagon nearly everything they want to get bad guys anywhere and everywhere, while in all likelihood, creating more bad guys as fast or faster than the drones can eliminate them.
