Would have been a much more fitting juxtaposition if the shoe had conked him right in the kisser.


I think they refer to this in AA as "hitting bottom".

 


There's wagging the dog and jumping the shark. I propose a new phrase, ducking the shoe: Evasive action to preserve the final dregs from an empty barrel of dignity.


Ducking the shoe.  Perfect!  I'll bet that catches on, G.

 


It's a good phrase, solid imagery, nice flow and all, but I'm not sure its meaning, at least as defined by Genghis, will be flexible enough to catch on.


Oh, I dunno. I think there are plenty of CEOs on Wall Street and in Detroit that are trying desperately to duck the shoe even now.
