President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris have asked Americans to join them in a moment of silence this evening when they host a candle lighting ceremony at the White House to remember nearly 500,000 people in the U.S. who have died from Covid-19. https://t.co/cCooKPXEG6

I just got around to watching President Biden’s remarks from earlier about the more than 500,000 Americans we’ve lost. I needed to hear that. And I take some comfort in knowing that our president is mourning with us.
As for me was one of the most eloquent and historic presidential speeches I have ever seen. Really. I never expected that kind of greatness from him, never.
Tune in as President Biden delivers remarks and observes a moment of silence for the lives lost to COVID-19. https://t.co/5oNg5jahuS
Yes, take a few moments to think of all the people who had to let their loved ones die suffering alone and then without any of the usual closure rituals.
I’m in the hospital with Covid. I am depressed, I am scared and I’m feeling very alone. I am asking for prayers no matter how big or small. I need hope, please, my Twitter friends. Thank you.
The most defining — and rejuvenating — characteristic of the new commander-in-chief is his extraordinary empathy. That’s because the 46th president really does feel your and our collective pain as a country — no gimmicks or shrills attached.
edit to add: In the thread, Heffner mentions that it's "confounding" that Biden has not visited Texas yet. But subsequently there has been an announcement that Biden will visit Friday.
