That’s how female protesters greeted one of the most courageous women in #Belarus,Nina Bahinskaya,at the march. Thousands of women are rallying now in the city centre of #Minsk. A @dw_russian journalist Pauluk Bykouski has been detained a moment ago and taken to a police station pic.twitter.com/1DHXRXotbw
But the real joke is the western press covering made-up Russian vaccine data like real news. Is this paid or free advertising for Putin by Bloomberg? https://t.co/vUlpCe4iEp
Reed Galen of The Lincoln Project just retweeted this:
Why Belarus protesters will prevail (thread)
1. The protest is creative. People do use technologies and to use arts. Every protest looks like the festival. It is engaging and fun. In the video, you can see the improvised show about Luka. pic.twitter.com/GhBw06Ofqw
He did not choose to add a comment like "hint, hint, BLM", left it up to the reader to decide why. I will note, however, that Lincoln Project's projects and tweets are often "engaging and fun."
The Left's conspicuous fun often seems contrived and made for cameras and a fair bit mean-spirited, even while talking about so-called progressive values. I find family members on both the left or right hang up on me for the slightest affront to purity values - and I have a pretty goddamned tiny family.
3. The protest is peaceful. If it is peaceful, authorities look stupid with armored vehicles, water cannons, and armed guys. The peaceful character of protest gives a moral advantage to protesters and limits the authorities since they need to justify the use of violence somehow pic.twitter.com/M5Nzmp5n5S
Poster says: "Sponsor of our festival - PUTISHENKO!" More Putin supports Luka, more people in Belarus hate Putin as well. Photo: @svabodapic.twitter.com/PgvX1XyRRB
Witness report that Maria Kalesnikava - the last of the female opposition trio still in Belarus - has been snatched from the street by masked men and taken away. Her whereabouts are still unknown.https://t.co/44QUDouVLb
BTW, I noticed that Rachel Maddow is covering this rather heavily. Nice side of her nerdiness is that when she latches on a story she has good researchers and drags her fan base into it. Maybe eventually out of that we get more foreign policy on what has become Trump 24/7 cable TV news
By intervening in Belarus to prop up his fellow post-Soviet dictator Alyaksandr Lukashenka, Vladimir Putin risks repeating the mistakes made in Ukraine and fueling anti-Russian sentiment among Belarusians, writes @TarasKuzio. https://t.co/W2uz6XqdQW
