President Obama Made History With You Tube Interview

Last Thursday, January 22, 2015, President Obama was interviewed by three popular you tube personalities at the Whitehouse.  The three vloggers that had the honor were Hank Green, GloZell Green and Bethany Mota with a combined audience of about 15 million viewers. What is historic is that this is a first for a President to recognize the value of the internet social media to reach out to a younger population.

What is good about this move is that it eliminates the corporate media filter and allows the vloggers to ask questions that are on their viewers top interest list. The Whitehouse has been putting out short videos on you tube but this is the first actual interview solely by you tube personalities.

It is an interesting and charming interview.  When I watched it there was already almost 3 million views. That is a much wider audience then Fox News, that will continue to grow as the interview is passed around on social media.  This is a good way to build the Democrat Party over a long period of time.  I hope he continues to reach out to vloggers and bloggers.

Bethany is a very talented young lady. She started her you tube channel because she was bullied over the internet and that led to being on Dancing with the Stars.  She is just 19 years old and very popular with young you tube watcher.  Here she is on Dancing with the stars.

Of course, Republican heads exploded. Listening to them whine that the interviews were "beneath the dignity of the office" was amusing, and obviously rooted in ignorance. The SOTU speech gets fewer and fewer broadcast viewers every year, so talking to young people on their turf was simply smart. There's not a Republican 2016 hopeful who wouldn't jump at the chance - their only problem being that nobody's interested.

A few months ago he did a interview chat on Reddit.  I hope he continues seeking out young voters.

It is really a good way to get a message out.  You tube video gets copied in smaller pieces and is passed around the social media networks.

It is a way of looking at the long view of building the party.  It is giving the young libertarians some competition in ideas. They are a small group that have dominated the left's comment sections.

The reason I picked the word "historic" is because sometimes we over look moves like this as insignificant when it happens. Later historians look at it as a historical shift or change. This is putting a message out with legs that has not been filtered by editors.  Editors choose what is going to be reported based on what will impress advertisers.

Can you imagine someone sitting on Fox News with green lipstick as her stick. LOL...

Yeah, I guess it's not Sarah's shade. Yet.
